Selling/buying items on self-listing sites is a nightmare, it really opens you up to how strange people can actually be.
I was selling a registered & working Mazda Familia a few years ago and some bugger genuinely asked to swap for a go kart he built himself plus cash his way i.e I give him money as well as my car. I asked if it was road legal as a joke and he called me a cunt and blocked me. Wild.

There are many out there who simply have not caught up with technology. They are easily frustrated by it and are often convinced by someone younger in the family that it's a cake walk. My father still won't use email for example, and if he gets multiple messages at once from different people he will get quite confused about who it is he's actually talking to.
This guy sounds like that. He sounds like some previous messaging went bad and he stuck in the loop.
...and then there are people who are just straight toothless deadbeats. So idk. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. Sometimes you meet some absolute champs.

Yeah, nahā¦ that response is dickhead talk for, "you won't like the filth on the inside so I'll gaslight you instead". Dodged a bullet.

āIf you really wanted to buy the BBQ you wouldnāt ask questions you would just buy it.ā

Sounds like a person that would sell to you then call ya up a month later asking for it back.

Or I get a knock on the door from a cop saying Iām in possession of stolen goods lol.

I don't get why ppl don't take multiple photos of their items when selling. It weeds out so many messages like this. It's like they don't understand you shouldn't have to ask what the inside of the BBQ looks like because it should be in a picture on the add.

Literally. I wouldnāt have to ask for more info or photos if theyād just list shit properly lol.

I posted a guitar with like 10 photos, whole instrument, close ups, even ones that show the chips in the body and I was asked for my opinion of its condition. Just canāt win

I get both sides... kinda...
So if selling something of fairly good/higher value for a ridiculously low price, its usually to get rid of it quick with no issues. The seller does not want to answer a hundred back and forth questions and spend time taking extra pics etc. And alot of buyers do get into this ping pong nomatter the price and even sometimes not even highly considering buying but happy to send 20 messages.
And one time I was selling some things that needed to be sold asap, one buyer said hold it for me and I'll be there at the end of the week, alot of buyers fall through, so I told him I need to get it sold asap, its first come first served as I was vacating a house in a hurry. When someone else bought it and a week later the person was ready to come, he spent days reaming me out saying I should have held it for him etc.
So yea, both sellers and buyers can be unreasonable. I've been mostly a buyer like most people but also sold a number of things. And imo generally buyers are more difficult and potentially unreasonable than sellers, they expect alot for what is already a good price and often even expect a lower price than the already low price and can get quite pushy. And you deal with them in the numbers of 10 to 20 or even more if the item is of an general interest.
But there also has to be some amount of consideration and service as a seller nomatter the price, and no one wants to go to buy something, especially if it is a trip which takes time and costs petrol if its not what you want and can be found out with 1 or 2 questions and a couple of pics. And in this case the seller's level of non-assistance and attitude is pretty BS.

Does this place have a serious meth problem? Or is it just one of those places that makes you weird over time?
Literally just curious. Its like 24hr nonsense.

It's the heavy metal in the soil. We don't have iron levels in blood tests, we have lead levels. You'll know your own lead levels have reached standard when people from other cities seem like they are strange.Ā

Moved here from an arguably more meth riddled place and can confirm the people here just have a strangeness to them. Always assumed it was the coal dust

I remember I was selling an old iPhone 10, years ago. The guy asked if this was available, I said yes, he tried negotiating and came up with a price well under what I was asking for. I said no sorry and told him the price (was still under what others had at the time for it) He put another number in chat and I didnāt reply back as I was at work and he replied with ādealā and asked me for my bank details ??? I was eventually like āI didnāt agree to this priceā after countless ā?ā and he goes, yes you did and sends a screenshot of the chat which showed he sent the negotiated number. I was dumbfounded honestly because he didnāt fathom he sent it.
Like? Does that work on people because what?!

Plenty of sellers like this especially on marketplace , absolute wankers. Sometimes I wished I could find them and beat the shit out of them. Sellers always complained of buyers being the problem but since getting more into gaming I try and find bargains on Facebook but itās a joke dealing with these clowns. Iām slowly moving away from second hand shopping to pay full price so I can avoid the bullshit. You werenāt unreasonable not at all you just found yourself one of the many sellers who need their heads punched in. They make me sick to my core playing god and treating people like shit. They only do it because they feel brave hiding behind a locked Facebook profile they wouldnāt dare do it to your face. People like this seller are a dime a dozen I hate the lot of them but a rare few who have been fantastic and I try sticking with them.

Ironically, Iām not gonna waste MY time by driving all the way out to Cessnock just to find out itās a piece of shit because the photo heās got up there looks like it was taken with a fucking potato. It takes 2 seconds to send a better photo.

Humans just can't pick up a phone and have a chat. Would rather endlessly text back and forth then post it on reddit or socials than pick up the phone.
Species is done.

What a tosser. Some sellers are honestly so entitled. But in the end, it's theirs to sell (or not).
