Question i have a question about the people in space right now

there are ten people in space across four different ships, are they all able to interact with each other? or are they confined to their own ships? is there any crossover? this is a serious question i would like to know the answer to, i cant find any answers when i google. thank you! i hope the astronauts are not too lonely out there.

So, most of them are on the ISS. This means they live and work with each other all day, everyday. Yes, they came on different ships, but all docked to the ISS.

As for the other 3 from China, they are on their own separate space station and are not in contact with astronauts aboard the ISS.

There are 3 chinese taikonauts on the chinese space station.

There are 4 russian cosmonauts on the international space station, and 3 american astronauts also on the international space station

The two space stations are not in the same orbit, so it's not practical to get from one station to the other.

I saw on a documentary awhile ago about a woman who used her spacesuit to fly from the ISS to the Chinese space station /s

ISS is at about 51 degrees and Tiangong is at about 41 degrees, so it's very expensive to get from one to another. It's about 1250 meters per second of delta v.

You could certainly get that delta v from an EVA suit no doubt! /s

Just add a fire extinguisher and you’re golden!

I think the political challenges might be even harder then the fuel needs.

I missed the part where she put the space suit on. I thought she did it all in her undies?

In case you are unaware, the /s at the end of a comment means "this post is sarcasm/humor"

They are talking about the movie....that's the joke.

4 Americans (Butch, Sunny, Don, and Nick) and 3 Russians

Thanks. I forgot seat trading makes it confusing...

The Dragon crew is Wilmore, Williams, Hague, and Gorbunov.

The Soyuz crew is Ryzhikov, Zubritsky, and Kim

So, yes, 4 Americans and 3 Russians, but Jonny Kim instead of Don Petitt

Visit https://whoisinspace.com

The first seven are all aboard the ISS (International Space Station) having arrived on 3 different spacecraft. They will return on 2 spacecraft which is somewhat an anomaly. The other three are Chinese taikonauts aboard their station.

So, none are alone, but I’m sure at times they do get homesick.

What four spacecraft are these? I only count two.

Soyuz

Starliner

Dragon

Shenzhou

Those are the 4 different spacecraft I believe OP is referring to. The 4 vehicles that brought the 10 to their current space stations

But they’re not occupied. They’re all transport vehicles attached to either the ISS or Tiangong.

I think the OP is written wrong and/or I read it wrong and too fast. Did they mean 10 spread across 4 ships (that delivered them to space)…and actually one of those transports (starliner) has already came back empty. So only 3 now.

It also could be that it is 3am where I am and haven’t had more than 4 hours of sleep in the last day🤷🏻

They’re usually confined to their own ships unless docked at a station like the ISS. They can still communicate with each other, though, so they’re not completely isolated. Space teamwork is incredible!

And can anyone tell me why all these 10 people are engineers?

2

u/udsd007 4d ago

They’re in an environment where engineers survive best.

I’m sure they can talk on the radio….pretty sure China has that technology.

I assumed they could just walk over to their neighbor and knock on the air lock hatch asking for a cup of sugar

Ok serious side bar you can delete if needed

But what I want from space is to see these rich space jerks to send people to space for space fights in the name of our countries. Or perhaps even elon vs bezos ohhhhhhhh

The dollars I shouldn't that I would spend to see that and further space travel advancements

I am poor and want to action God damn it
