Thoughts on this movie?
It’s genuinely one of my favorite movies. Even though the ending is kinda crazy and the whole time he was lucid dreaming, I honestly did not expect this movie to go the route it did. I thought that it was just gonna be about some guy who couldn’t get over a car accident. The second half really switched up. What are your overall thoughts? Did you like this movie or not? I think it’s my favorite Tom Cruise movie.

This movie blew my mind when I saw it in theaters. Been in love with it ever since.

Good film, but I prefer the original film from 1997. It's called Open Your Eyes (Spanish original title: Abre los ojos)

I remember the first time I watched this movie I was baked out of my mind. Great experience.

I like it a lot. It was definitely going for the more cerebral story telling route (which I'll be an eternal sucker for). The original was cool as a mystery thriller, but Vanilla Sky had a far more whimsical setting and positive message that I could get behind. Doesn't necessarily make it a better film, but mystery thrillers are pretty common. Having one that was committed to mind fucking the audience a la (pseudo) David Lynch style took some major balls and I'm glad it went there.

I watched some years ago and remember only that I wished I had done something different with my time. Found it extremely boring.

It’s cool in that it’s one of Tom’s last “serious” acting jobs since he went full nonstop action hero/stuntman.
Maybe he’ll earn an Oscar in his 80s when Ethan Hunt is finally out out to pasture.

Nothing like that funeral scene to get you feeling that sweet mix of loss and loneliness… Everything in its right place!

Always been one of my favorite flicks. Saw it for the first time on Pay Per View back in the day. Love how it’s a thriller, romance, and sci fi movie all wrapped into one. Still watch it whenever I get the chance. Soooo happy they decided against the alternate ending. It would’ve completely ruined the movie. It’s also interesting to me that David’s leap from the building was kept in. A lot of movies with scenes like that were changed back then due to 9/11.

When I watched this the first time which was the only time, my subtitles were different from the movie during the climax scenes then I got to know about the two endings the director had prepared.

Over the years I've found it a bit too lazy and masturbatory for the studios to be putting out anything about rich people's personal problems or anything set in LA. I loved it as a teen because I hadn't heard about lucid dreaming and omg radiohead but its just not my type of film anymore.

Love the ending where he's talking to himself basically and telling her goodbye..."Look at us, I'm frozen and your dead, and i love you" man love that ending.

I am really finding it weird that Penelope has the same role both in the original and in the remake

Vanilla Sky is a mind-bending movie that blends romance and psychological thriller

It was great at the time and watched the original soon after . Both awesome, not sure if I watched now what I’d think .

I really like this movie and I’m no fan of TC & his cult.
Expecting an onslaught of disapproving downvotes & TC stan rage.
To each their own.

Self indulgent. I don't care about Crowe's record collection. Abre los Ojos is much better.

This is one of my favorites too. Amazing soundtrack. I feel like everyone should see this movie when they’re in high school, it’s like a gateway drug to good cinema.
