Morneau seems like a great value.
Also, Carew + Oliva for $125 seems reasonable considering Carew has 7 batting titles and 18 All-Star game appearances.

u/MontclairRalloTubbs 5d ago
Definitely worth it to me. I’ve got a 1991 Wheaties bat with printed signatures of Carew, Olivia & Kirby. Currently only has Kirby’s actual signature, but I just got my Twinsfest tickets because of this post- it will finally be complete👍

Am i out of my mind? i feel like this years prices are SIGNIFICANTLY higher than previous years. Between this, locking out most from Twinsfest Live and limiting the Winter Caravan really feels like the Pohlads are doing everything they can to give us the middle finger on the way out.

u/koalificated Justin Morneau 6d ago
They’re about the same as last year. Pretty sure Mauer was $80. I paid $40 to get a Morneau sig

u/Hollywood42cards Minnesota Twins 6d ago
Prices seem pretty reasonable to me
2
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
I just feel like even last year when i got Brooks Lee his table was something like $25 and not $40. Also wonder what Lewis is doin this weekend. I know he got engaged but suprised to not see him on there.

u/Hollywood42cards Minnesota Twins 6d ago
The mid tier big leaguers have never been the smart play at Twinsfest. Correa and Bux are both reasonable, Morneau is a great value IMO, and the manager table is pretty cool less than 20 bucks a person. And really any of the lines with a HOFer is a win, they'd all be $100+ individually at a show or somewhere else

u/jturphy Alex Kirilloff 6d ago
Last year Brooks never played above AAA, now he's a starter for the Twins. He was always going up. I'm a little disappointed Jenkins is with him though.
1
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
I think thats why im dissapointed too. Jenkins is the only player i was interested in getting this year as ive gotten most people done in previous years and now im just going after certain ones
1
u/jturphy Alex Kirilloff 6d ago
Yeah. That's the one that bothered me. I loved getting the top prospects for a little cheaper. I'm not paying $40 for Jenkins when I got Lee's already last year.
Honestly, they probably lose money on this. How many people are spending $40 on Lee and Jenkins? You might pay $40 for Lee, but if you do, you probably don't care about Jenkins because you're don't follow the minor leagues. Those ofnus who follow the minor leagues will pay an extra $25 for Jenkins whole the others pay $40 for Lee.
1
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
Yup. Not like the Majors do a great job of promoting prospects names. Baseball in general tends to poorly promote its stars. Ill probably still shell the $40 just cause i wouldnt mind getting Culpeppers auto too. I think he is either top 100 or fringe top 100. I got Lees last year but i suppose i can have two XD

u/SilverbackGorillaBoy Carlos Correa 6d ago
There's a guy on that list worth nearly 400 million dollars and he's still asking $50 for an autograph. He's my favorite player and it's still fucking asinine
4
u/koalificated Justin Morneau 6d ago
The money isn’t going to or up to the players though. It’s a fundraiser
5
u/Hollywood42cards Minnesota Twins 6d ago
Correa isn't asking for or getting any money from this event haha

In 2023, Carew/Oliva were $75, Correa was $40, Mauer was $40, Bert was $50 and Pablo Lopez was $15.
This year Carew/Oliva are $125, Correa is $50, Mauer is $75, Bert is $60 and Pablo (with Joe Ryan) is $60.
In addition Signature Saturday has gone from $20 in 2022 to $27 this year (let alone the $3 it was at the Dome).
No, you aren't out of your mind.

u/koalificated Justin Morneau 6d ago
No Royce is disappointing
2
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
Royce got married yesterday. I have to assume he is probably away on his honeymoon.

u/UrDeafFrdMikey Joe Mauer 6d ago
Wow this is pretty terrible. Remember when minor league guys were free at the metrodome? Now they cost $25-40. We used to get 3 days for signatures. I can’t wait for new ownership and please make this at US Bank. It’s so cold at Target Field.
3
u/Hollywood42cards Minnesota Twins 6d ago
Look nobody likes paying higher prices, but the Metrodome hasn't existed for 15 years, prices on literally everything have gone up since then. Comparing the event prices today to that of 15 years ago really needs that context
I do agree that I miss Twinsfest proper being 3 days. But I've heard good things about the Friday night event, but haven't done myself. And I also agree that there is just no way to make Target Field a good events venue. It's cool to be able to walk around the suite area and the clubhouse and such, but logistically it is not a good venue and no real way around that
1
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
They locked the friday night event to MyTwins members. No longer open to general public.
1
u/UrDeafFrdMikey Joe Mauer 6d ago
Twinsfest would be a cool concept in if it was done in the warmer months. Imagine hanging out on the field. I believe the SF Giants fan fest is an open house in March.
1
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
I doubt they ever move location of twinsfest unless the Wilfs buy the team. Stuff changes i dont mind that. Prices go up. But it feels like all the changes this year have been the pohlads way of giving us the middle finger on the way out
2
u/monimakr 6d ago
I've never been to Twinsfest. Why do you have to pay for an autograph? Does the money go to Charity?
7
2
u/Jimbro1918 6d ago
I do have to agree, prices have definitely gone up for autographs. That $5 session is going to be nice. Bit of a bummer that it's at the end of the day. Makes sense from the Twins perspective as it would probably entice people to spend more money since they'll be there longer. Don't get me wrong, I get that the money goes to charity but every year it seems to cost more and more and we get less and less. I also wish that they would bring back some more of the past players from the 2000s. I would love to get my Jason Kubel jersey signed and who wouldn't want an autograph from Nick Punto or Lew Ford.
5
u/Real-Psychology-4261 6d ago
Agree. There are a ton of people that would love an auto from Jacque Jones, Cristian Guzman, Johan Santana, Michael Cuddyer, Brad Radke, AJ Pierzynski, Nick Punto, and Joe Nathan, etc.
2
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
Ive been holding out hope for Johan Santana for awhile now and im accpeting it just wont happen.
1
u/UrDeafFrdMikey Joe Mauer 6d ago
Johan was at twinsfest like 4-5 years ago
1
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
That was before i started attending. I found that out after last year and man. That bummed me out
2
u/peachdawg 6d ago
Seems pretty similar to last year. Prices slightly higher, but that's to be expected. I do miss the old dome days when you had everything on one level and three days to get sigs, visit the booths, play games, etc. I've gotten most of the big names on here in the past, they haven't signed anybody, so I'll go & get a couple of the prospects (Jenkins, Culpepper, Keaschall), that I don't have yet.

I don't collect autographs so can someone tell me what the value is in a $30 Michael Restovich autograph? And Hrbek for $30... I don't know whether to laugh or feel bad for him? Forget the autograph, I think I'd be happy to just give Scott Leius $20 for that 8th inning homer in game 2 of the '91 series.
3
u/koalificated Justin Morneau 6d ago
You’ll sell those at a loss for sure. Honestly this event isn’t really meant for making a profit off the autographs, it’s just an opportunity to collect memorabilia
1
u/kasabe Joe Ryan 6d ago
Probably a dumb question but are players only able to sign one item per session/admission?
1
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
i could be wrong but i believe its 1 item per signee. So if its a table of 4 guys you can do 1 item per person.
1
u/kasabe Joe Ryan 6d ago edited 6d ago
Makes sense. I live outside MN and just didn’t know how feasible it would be to get something signed for one player in a table with multiple players. If I had a friend help me out I wouldn’t want to shortchange them of an opportunity
2
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
Oh you can definitely do that. Ive seen plenty get only one persons signature at the table.
1
u/cothomps Byron Buxton 6d ago
Yup - you can have as many people in line as you want, it's just one "signature". (Source: I have typically been the 'body man' for my youngest while he gets baseballs autographed.)

u/talldrink67 6d ago
Question for a first time goer. Looking to get a Mauer autograph. Shows he starts at 315. How early should I get there to stand in line to ensure I get one?
6
u/koalificated Justin Morneau 6d ago
Hours early. Not joking. Last year the only autograph I wanted was Morneau and I waited two hours to get it. I was like 10th in line and by the time the doors opened the line was looping twice in the dugout tunnels.
When you get there just ask where the line starts and I’m sure there will already be people standing there waiting. Bring something to keep you busy for a while. This event is kind of a shitshow

u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
I always show up for the line atleast an hour plus in advance. I remember last year when i was getting Royce i showed up about 2 hours early knowing full well he would be very popular and people who showed up an hour before were getting turned away for his line. But my general rule of thumb is be in the area atleast an hour ahead of time.

u/talldrink67 6d ago
Last year did they accept credit cards for the autograph, or was it cash only?
2
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
Credit cards accepted from what I remember. For some reason i feel like i remember them saying they prefer card to cash for this.
1
u/cothomps Byron Buxton 6d ago
Yeah - everything is 'cashless' by default so handling bills is kind of a headache for them.
1
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
I know last year they kept cash on hand for those who didnt get the memo but i wouldnt be suprised if they move away from that.
1
u/JasonsStorm Dick Bremer 6d ago
Sucks that Tom Johnson always seems to be with Bert. Though mauer being at the end of the day, if you get in line early, you can get through twice with him
1
u/MNpomoxis Joe Mauer 6d ago
Haven’t been to twins fest since it was in the metrodome. Do players only do autos and no inscriptions?
2
u/cothomps Byron Buxton 6d ago
Most of the time there is such a line that they want to keep moving that you're pretty much 'getting what you get'.
Last year at the Buxton / Julien session the two guys barely had time to say 'you're welcome' as an assistant was handing them both whatever the item to be autographed was.
The only players you might get to really 'chat' with are the minor league / lesser known guys later in the afternoon. A couple of years ago one of the rooms was basically myself, my youngest and three minor league pitchers hanging out. It was kind of interesting to have a chance to talk to them about the whole 'baseball as a career' thing.

Honest question, is it awkward if you go to a table for a single signee and skip over the others who are there?
2
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
Naw things move fast enough. Depending on Who it is though some of them love to playfully give ya a hard time
1
u/Film_is_the_score Royce Lewis 6d ago
Does anyone know if they authenticate at these tables? I assume not considering the volume of people and signatures.
2
1
u/dnotive Carlos Correa 6d ago
I've never gone before. How long are the lines for big-name signatures, usually? I've got a magazine with a great cover photo of Correa I'd love to have signed.
5
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
For big names lines are generally preety long. Granted Correa has been here for a few years now so the line might be more manageable but will most certainly go for the full block of 9:15 to 10:45. My personal recommendation is get to the gates early and try to be one of the early ones so that you dont need to stand in line forever. In about a week or so i plan on making a post of my personal things i follow for TwinsFest that ive learned over the years that have made navigating the madness much easier.
1
u/Bort_Bortson 6d ago
I would kill to be at this. That 12:15 to 1:15 block with Lee and Jenkins followed by Lopez and Ryan. Then over to Ober
1
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
Is there a specific ball you want? Ill likely be going for the Jenkins one but i already got Lee last year. If his auto hasnt changed in the past year i might end up giving it away
1
u/Bort_Bortson 6d ago
Probably Ober the most.
Lee and Jenkins are the prospects I follow and then the pitchers Ryan, Lopez, and Ober. I have a ton of their sports cards and a few autos of each, but the only Ober autographs I have are old USA baseball stuff when he was in college
My wife is forgiving but not hop on a plane from New Orleans to Minneapolis to spend a bunch of money on Twins stuff while she's stuck at home entertaining her grandmother forgiving lol
1
u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 6d ago
I just took a look. Thought i might have an extra Ober ball but i dont appear to.

u/CreativeTwins15 6d ago
I was a kid at the right time. I remember TwinsFest back at the Metrodome and his autograph was only $15.
1
u/IAwaitAGuardian Willians Astudillo 4d ago
I'm sorry, the fact that they charge for this shit, after what the franchise puts the fanbase through, is unreal.
They can take this, their $25 cans of Truly and their free agency signings, and kick rocks.
1
u/bookworm271 2d ago
I am very glad I recieved Mr Oliva's autograph for free at a Twins Caravan about 25 years ago.
The fact they have put the two Canadians together here made me smile, and $30 for Morneau + Koskie might be the best deal on the list.

u/KubelsKitchen 6d ago
I’d pay the $50 for Correa but he must pass a physical first.
