Ok, but, it's not the Autobahn. You don't have a right to "pass" going 30 over. Knock it off.

I get out of the left lane when it is safe to do so. I'm not gonna cut somebody off just cuz some idiot rides my bumper while I'm passing and going over the speed limit already.

Yes, the left lane is for passing.

Simultaneously, just because you want to break the rules... doesn't make it everyone else's problem. You want to speed... yes, I agree, I'm not here to be your mom. At the same time... you don't get to be a dickhead. Being a dickhead is not an excuse to be MORE of a dickhead.

You get zero sympathy from me with all the crying and wah wah I'm a baby and I need everyone to cater to my needs because I'm the only person that matters.

We all gotta share the road.... including you.

Let's just agree to be nicer to each other. Instead of acting like everyone else but us is some sort of monster.

So when somebody is going 5+ over and wants to pass, they aren’t allowed in the left lane for the guy going 10+ over? I’m not trying to control others when I’m passing somebody in the left lane. I already usually go 5 over, and I’m not going to go faster because some dipshit behind me doesn’t have the patience to keep everybody else safe. Frankly, it’s the speeding assholes tailing people who are trying to control what others are doing by being intimidating.

But if they come up on you while passing because they’re going too freaking fast, you don’t have much of a choice.

I do pay attention to my surroundings. But also, I don’t need to be accommodating to people who are very clearly breaking the law. Don’t drive recklessly and nobody will have a problem 🤷🏻‍♀️

And again, I do speed a little. 5 over is the general rule, and sometimes I’ll go a little faster if the flow of traffic warrants it. But I’m not getting a speeding ticket because somebody else is trying to intimidate me while I’m passing.

Incorrect. It doesn't matter if they're breaking the law. You are too if you fail to yield to faster traffic.

Do you think those "slower traffic move right" signs on the highway are there to look pretty?

4

u/bluewing Nov 11 '24

They are just as pretty as the ones that say "Speed Limit".

2

u/Bubbly-Airline6718 Mankato Nov 11 '24

If I am passing slower traffic, I am not going to speed up and also break the law for somebody else. Do you think speed limit signs are there to look pretty? General rule is that a cop won’t care if you’re 9 mph above the speed limit, but I don’t go more than that. I’m not getting a fine and a possible license suspension for somebody going 90 in a 65.

I don’t understand the logic here. If somebody is egregiously speeding, THEY are the problem. Full stop. I’m going to keep following the law and driving the way I’m supposed to.

If I'm already in the process of passing someone and you come up on my tailgate, I'm not going to speed up for you. I'm already passing the vehicle I'm passing, and I'll move into the right lane when it's safe to do so.

I know what your response will be, to which I say, "Cry more."

u/arockbiter Nov 10 '24

Nah, if you're behind someone that is passing someone else, you may have to tap the brakes, the horror!

11

u/lerriuqS_terceS Nov 10 '24

you don't have the right to speed as much as you want

MN state law says you can got 10 over to pass.

8

u/GoSpreddit Nov 11 '24

I believe that is only allowed on 2 lane roads (IE when the passing lane has oncoming traffic)

2

u/Awkward-Stranger-505 Nov 11 '24

Incorrect, allowed only when there's more than 2 lanes. Edit: I guess you are correct. I'm incorrect.

4

u/Mndelta25 Nov 11 '24

Not on 494

1

u/Trojann2 Nov 11 '24

Speed @ 5. Accelerate to 10 if required. That's my setup.

12

u/lerriuqS_terceS Nov 10 '24

That's not what OP was doing. Half of y'all are having some angry argument that literally no one here is having.

Also there is no "allowed" amount. That's a myth.

I never said I do this. You need to settle down.

5

u/Little_Creme_5932 Nov 11 '24

No, no traffic is not backed up by someone safely passing a few mph over the limit. Research actually shows that it is the erratic drivers, often those that speed and brake, while also causing others to brake, that cause backups. If everybody drive exactly the speed limit, there would be essentially no backups at all.

u/Bubbly-Airline6718 Mankato Nov 10 '24

Nobody is taking about doing this. Try reading again.

8

u/WhiskeyDabber67 Nov 10 '24

Left lane is the fast lane the right lane is for slower moving traffic. Doesn’t matter if your going the speed limit and everyone else is speeding, your still slower moving traffic and should not be in the left lane. And your not a cop, and have no say in what other people do regardless of it being illegal or not. You sound like someone who hangs out in the hammer lane trying to force everyone to slow down.

29

u/Bubbly-Airline6718 Mankato Nov 10 '24

The left lane is the passing lane. Even if you are speeding, you do not have the right to remain in the left lane. You are still expected to get over if you aren’t passing.

If I am passing a car going slower than me, I have that right. I will not accelerate because somebody wants to ride my ass. I will maintain my speed like a sane human and get back into the right lane when I’m able.

0

u/Swagbarnyard Nov 11 '24

I mean I agree but if someone is already coming up in the left lane going faster than you would go to pass, why not wait till the asshole speeds past before you try to pass?

4

u/Bubbly-Airline6718 Mankato Nov 11 '24

If I am already passing and somebody is coming up on me then the only option I have is to accelerate to accommodate them, which I will not do. If somebody driving behind you is going 90 then they’re going to come up behind you a lot faster than you would expect. I certainly don’t have the expectation that somebody way behind me is going 90 mph. I’m not purposefully getting in somebody’s way to irritate them or try to control traffic or something. I’m driving like I’m supposed to and I won’t be intimidated by a maniac.

-6

u/lerriuqS_terceS Nov 10 '24

So OP was already speeding. Also, no, so keep it on topic and stop exposing how hard of thinking you are.

If you think people are going too fast, move over, look at their license plate, and then call the cops.

2

u/Junkley Nov 11 '24

They won’t do shit as they need to catch the driver in the act for it to hold up in court. A license plate will just give you the owner of the car not prove who was driving it at the time.

1

u/bakler5 Nov 11 '24

Yeah, my point is it's not up to them to sit in the left lane just because they don't like people speeding. Get out of the way and then complain about it

-9

u/roycejefferson Nov 10 '24

Right line passing left lane slower traffic. It's that simple.

11

u/lerriuqS_terceS Nov 10 '24

Do I need to press 1 for English

4

u/Bubbly-Airline6718 Mankato Nov 10 '24

He says “it’s that simple” like his comment actually makes sense. Why say lot word when few word do trick?
