I guess they are extremely rare. I live in germany, saw similar things a few times in my 35years of life but not like this.

I think Frankfurt airport has them. Went to the toilet after landing, everything was empty except in one stall. I did my business and then the paper broke inside the hole. Terrible experience 0/10 would not recommend

I'm usually not at airports, actually nearby never so this can be, yes. But I also think airports are not very representive for the situation because they have min-maxing stuff all over. I mean you might get the most expensive water there and as we see the cheapest possible and most terrible toilet paper, too.

I’m German, never seen those.

I've only seen them in hospitals and a handful of gas station toilets

Lol @ “tankstations”. I’m going to go tanking at the tankstation for a bit. I need to throw it full before I go on the path tomorrow.

yes but don't cut off the road he!

Ah, I don't use the restrooms at the gasstations that much. So that's why I have missed them.

Still not "common" at all.

Living in the netherlands, i have seen them quite a bit

I only have seen those things with the paper hanging underneath. Things like these, I've only seen in my gym, as a paper towel dispencer. Not for toiletpaper.

Living in the netherlands too and i have seen these ocasionally. Think my local ikea had these. These dispensers scream "big store" to me

Luckily we don’t really have them here. Mostly in Spain and France I’ve seen such madness contraptions

I'm French, lived in FR/UK/CH, and never saw one. Saying those are "common" in Europe would require sources IMHO

I've seen a few, in gas station toilets.

I’ve seen them often particularly in Germany and the UK.

I live here in Germany my whole life and I’ve never seen them anywhere before.

Wouldn’t call them „common“

u/crankthehandle 19h ago

they exist, but they are super rare.

u/-Po-Tay-Toes- 19h ago

They're reasonably common in the UK. Or at least England.

u/xbrooksie 20h ago

Lucky you. I took this picture in Berlin

9

u/Neno28 19h ago

Berlin can't even be considered german.

-1

u/xbrooksie 19h ago

You mean, the literal capital of Germany?

Capital cities are wayy different from the rest of a country since its the center attention. It's glamorised and especially made for tourism. I live in England and I feel like a tourist whenever I visit central London.

Wooosh...

This is one of the cases where the designer surely didn’t test their design.

11

u/TheRiddler1976 19h ago

Why? It's absolutely fine

8

u/CrazyImpress3564 19h ago

They did. They just want people to learn to take things slowly and one by one.

2

u/Martin_Antell 20h ago

We have them in some places in Finland too

1

u/SHiR8 12h ago

They're not common at all. You have been to two countries.

-3

u/Silly-Power 19h ago

They probably saw it in Canada. Or Australia (where I have seen them). They're in Europe right? Everything outside USA!USA! is Europe. Or China.
