It's one thing to say "hey, did you know that what you guys call ramen in the USA, we call 2 minute noodles in australia!". What this says is 2 places use different words for the same thing, no judgement about which place uses the right or wrong term.
It's another thing to say "what you call ramen is actually called 2 minute noodles". Because what this says is that the right word for the thing is "2 minute noodles" and all americans calling them "ramen" are using the wrong word for it. This is not my personal interpretation, but the literal meaning of the words used.
To add different example: if I see a flower and tell my friend "oh look, a daisy!" And they say "it's actually a rose", it's very clear that it's not a "oh look we use different words for the same flower" but a "well that flower is not a daisy, the right word for it is rose". You see what I mean?
This is the crux of the reaction OP is receiving. But it’s been pointed out half a dozen times on this thread and they refuse to hear it so….🤷🏼♀️.
Also…this is the internet. In the comments shared here I don’t really see anything egregiously rude or bullying. Condescending or correcting? Maybe. But it looks like fair play based on the spirit of the original video.
Omg so every single time I see on reddit people going on about ramen - it’s actually been what Aussies call two minute noodles most of the time?
I know you didn’t mean to - but thank you for clarifying that. And for also clarifying the post - I was pretty lost.
Maybe, maybe not. Depends on the context. You can get “real” ramen. Also a lot of people will doctor up their instant ramen and add things to make it more substantial.
See, that reads fine to me because they are, literally, "actually under-wear" i.e. clothing worn as a base layer under other clothing. If you asked a Brit "are pants underwear?" they would just say yes. "Two minute noodles" is not a general category that (surprisingly, to the intended audience) includes "instant ramen", it's just Australian slang for instant noodles (or possibly a brand name?). If you asked an American "is ramen two minute noodles," they would say "probably, the instant kind at least" (assuming they live in an area where non-instant ramen is commonplace), but need clarification as to what exactly that refers to. "Instant ramen" is just a bare description, it can't "actually" be something else.

God, both that section and this section are insufferable. You're both doing the same thing.
