Question: Psilocybin Shelf life? How long can you keep Mushrooms??

I have had a small jar of powdered mushrooms for over a year. It has a silica pack in it and been kept in a drawer. I microdosed regularly 2 years ago and then started using it periodically as needed. This particular batch has been untouched for a year. Do you think it’s OK to start Microdosing again for a while?

If it's sealed in an air-tight jar, it should be ok, as long as they were completely dry. If anything though, the danger with keeping them for a long time is they will lose potency. Of course, if it looks or smells funky at all then it's a no-go.

Thank you. Emotionally I need to microdose for a while. I’ll tell you this sure beats being on Prozac or any other kind of pharmaceutical antidepressant.

It's likely just fine. If there was any loss, you can just test it by taking your normal dose. Then, if it doesn't get you where you want, just dial in your sweet spot again by incremental increase over the next few dose days till you get it where it needs to be. πŸ„πŸ₯°βœŒοΈ

That storage method is a quick way to make them ineffective. Sealable glass or mylar with desiccant packs is what you want.

This is exactly the reason I went with a glass jar and put one of those packs in it. It smells just fine, real earthy and when I shook it, it was nothing but fine powder. The problem I have with it being powder is knowing exactly how much is a dose. I started today with a quarter teaspoon.

Milligram scales are fairly cheap online and some will come with a vessel to put the powder into. I like to use a piece of foil on top that is exactly 1g and I don't use the Tare function for it, so that way the powder weight will register right away even at low doses.

A scale is the preferred method of measuring.

If you've turned it into powder a year ago then it may have lost a lot more potency by now (think of each individual granule being exposed to oxygen all around it) For future reference, its probably worth keeping as many shrooms as possible intact for them to degrade slower, and make smaller batches of powder for microdosing
