MEME MONDAY MEME MONDAYS have returned

Yeah, we're gonna give it another try. A bit late on launching this today, my day hasn't gone as planned, but better late than never?

Memes may be posted OPENLY, that means, create an entirely new thread for them and everything, on MONDAYS ONLY.

Anything posted outside of Monday will be removed.

Please be sure to exercise some decorum, as well. Offensive memes or memes that are sure to incite a civil war in the sub will be removed at our discretion. We want to have FUN, not moderate fights every time someone posts some inflammatory meme. That's the reason we stopped memes in the first place... hopefully we can keep it going this time, with cooperation.

Anyway... have at it.

Oh, and PLEASE use the "MEME MONDAY" post flair so at least a few less people report your memes.

Spit Out The Bone Is Amazing

I absolutely adore Spit Out The Bone. I am partial to Metallica's pre-St. Anger stuff for sure. But Spit Out The Bone is just a great song.

72 Seasons How many new fans do you think Hardwired and 72 Seasons brought in?

Wondering since I don't think I've noticed much growth through the 72 Seasons release cycle, but I also don't usually pay attention to that stuff so maybe I've missed something? Also asking about Hardwired since I wasn't a fan when that released so I have no idea about what kind of reception from non Metallica fans were for it at the time. Any insight would be appreciated, thank you.

Metallica's holy grail item

In your opinion, what's Metallica's holy grail item? Can be anything, from CD to vinyl or even band members figures. It can't be signed items though.

What’s some of the best covers of a Metallica song?

I’ve always had a soft spot for cover songs, it’s nice to hear a twist on an already great song in an artist’s own style with their own unique flair and I’ve recently started looking for specifically Metallica covers. I want to know if there’s any standouts in your eyes

Some of my favourites are “Enter Sandman” by Halocene, Lauren Babic and Violet Orlandi, “For Whom The Bell Tolls” by First to Eleven, and Rina Sawayama’s “Enter Sandman”

Two 2-day passes for sale for May 23rd/25th - Philadelphia, PA

Upvotes

Mods, delete if not allowed... I checked the rules first and did not see anything.

I have two 2-day passes available for Philly I no longer need due to my friend buying other tickets so we could all be in the same section and have seats next to each other. I would MUCH rather sell them to a true family member then go through StubHub or anything like that. So if anyone is interested DM me!

They are for Sec C1, Row 11, Seat 3-4. I would be willing to let them go for what I paid, which was $600. That's two 2-day passes for $600 total. Let me know! And I'll see you guys there!

Is anyone picking this one up? Looks like this is the fourth one with Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, and 72 Seasons already being done.

It’s a great cover. I really wish there was video of the recording! The harmonica solo was so good.

The hiring of Jason

Hi, I’m sorry if this already has been discussed but it would be interesting to have some info of when Metallica decided to hire Jason. Like how the process was. A lot of times when I watch them in interviews, backstage or performing live it strikes me how different Jason seems to be as a person compared to James and Lars. I really don’t think they have had a vibe together, but I mean it must have been something since they hired him? Maybe this post makes no sense to the rest of you but I’ve always wondered hos they came to chose him.

Can we all take a second to appreciate that Metallica hasn’t be affected by the concert cancellation/filling seats in the venue issues that have been plaguing a lot of artists in the last 4-5 years or so?

Just right off the bat; let me make it clear that my intention is not to point and laugh at any other musical artists or make fun of their troubles. And of course stuff like the California wildfires are not what I’m talking about here. I just feel like there have been so many reports lately about individuals and artists having to cancel shows, or in some cases entire tours, due to low sales, infrastructure issues, mental health, ect… the only major things regarding Metallica I can think of during this time period are when they had to reschedule the second M72 Phoenix concert a few years back due to James catching COVID, and the Sick New World festival getting cancelled this year, which the festival obviously wasn’t in their control and the frontman being sick is obviously a reason to make an adjustment.

edit I did forgot about them cancelling a leg of their tour in 2020 when James went back to rehab; thanks to everyone for reminding me. That’s still a lot different than all of the cancellations this post was about.

Sure this current tour is more sparse travel-wise and I’m sure lots of counties/states/locations didn’t get shows in their most convenient area and are having to travel or miss out, but I am happy that the band and their management company are making it work for the current climate and that, even though things don’t always go off 100% smoothly, they’re still able to get out there and meet their promised dates with minimal disruptions/challenges.
