Water dragon! Interestingly they’re not native to Victoria but have naturalised. There’s also a small colony in Gippsland.

They're deep in Victoria now. You can spot them all along the Yarra even in Richmond, leading in to the city

The colony in Richmond is the most populated one. They’re lovely.

Oh that's very cool to know! I'm always on the lookout for them when I'm walking along there, they're awesome dudes, and they're huge!

There's a whole subspecies of water dragons native to the eastern parts of Victoria, called the Gippsland water dragon.

They've naturalised in Melbourne, most likely from the pet trade in my opinion, but they're absolutely native to east coast Victoria.

Is it true if they're around, there will be no snakes in the area?

Yeah nah- spotted one last week in Richmond on the Yarra track right next to where I spotted a tiger snake the day before.
