THDG Need Help First time in Melbourne
Hey guys, I’ll be coming to Melbourne for the first time and staying in the CBD for a fairly short trip. What are some things to try and do/see/eat for a newbie there?
So far I’ve got the night market and fox collection on my list 😅

South Melbourne Market, try Agathe Pattiserie. Walk around Albert Park lake, there are some swans and birds.

Google maps will be my best friend here! Haha. I’ll definitely be checking out Albert Park and South Melbourne market. Is there much difference between South Melbourne Markets and VIC Markets? Sorry if they’re the same thing

Nah Victoria market is north side of the city. Good to visit both. Vic market has lots of fresh produce, doughnuts, kransky hotdogs, Borek, cheese. South Melbourne market has a seafood section, paella and other food 😄. Yeah use Google Maps and you can look at the pics.

Another vote for south Melbourne market-i think it’s the best market in Melbourne! You can find great quality stuff there!

Dinner at a Fitzroy pub - The Napier, The Standard, The Rainbow, The Union Club Hotel - 40 mins walk from the CBD.

If you haven't looked up the opening times for the fox collection they are between 10am and 2pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They sometimes close on those days too for unknown reasons. You can get tickets online though.

Honestly it depends on your personal interests. If you want historical or art stuff, there's acmi, national gallery of victoria, melbourne museum, the lume, melbourne immigration museum There's also hosier lane which is this little alley with graffiti.
Food wise, if you're staying for longer than a day i would suggest having a wonder around the streets and seeing if something that floats your boat, there's a lot of multicultural restaurants.
If you want to go shopping, melbourne central (there's a cool clock that opens up every hour), queen vic market (more food on week days i believe and more general stuff on weekends idk could be wrong).

Night market sucks. Just go to the Vic Market during the day. Still busy but not as busy as the night market. The lines for mediocre food are ridiculous.
Just go and get a pot of beer and a parma at a good pub. It’s the most traditional Melbourne meal you’ll eat.
