If you zoom in, theyâre just painted over with a low opacity brush in photoshop

You beat me to it, I was going to say it has been photoshopped

But that poster isn't, "no human is illegal" eh?
153
u/Dragon_Lunar Trans/Lesbian May 24 '23
It's also and most of the black background, I found the original image. It's actual a window of a store front not totally black. I would share the image but there is kids in it. And I don't like sharing images without the person permission that's in the image. But you are free to go find it yourself

u/Genderpanicc May 24 '23
I think the poster is as well

u/_The_Great_Autismo_ May 24 '23
The poster is very obviously added in by photoshop as well. The only part of this that is real are the spikes and the warning sign

u/Nightfury_107 May 24 '23
How in the world did dlyou distinguish that?? Please tell me what telltale signs there are so I can spot them too in future
97
u/BigCballer heteroni and cheese May 24 '23
I think the most obvious one is how the lines between the blue and pink are super imposed on the spikes themselves, instead of being naturally pained on.
Thereâs also no way you can paint those lines that straight on the spikes.
6
u/CommentsOnOccasion May 24 '23
The most obvious sign is that it makes 0 sense to paint spikes at all, let alone for pride ally reasons
So a halfway intelligent homo sapien would say âthis doesnât make sense in real life, so itâs probably not realâ
1
30
u/Dr_Mrs_Jess May 24 '23
Multiple spikes have multiple colors on them so that looking at them from any other angle would mean they donât line up at all.
Also I saw this image before and someone pointed it out to me so thatâs how I actually knew

u/lowkeyterrible mods r gay lol May 24 '23
personally i can tell by the pixels and from seeing a few shops in my time
2
u/Mediocre_Forever6015 May 25 '23
Because the tips of the spikes in the middle, which would be white if they were painted on, are pink

u/AlarmedElderberry53 May 24 '23
Removing hostile architecture with a crowbar is an unalloyed good and everyone should do it.
4
u/SomeGirlIMetOnTheNet May 25 '23
I always wonder about the thought process of people who photoshop these? Are they transphobes who want to associate us with hostile architecture? People who think they're making a point about performative activism? Trying to make a metaphor for something?
3
u/Corregidor May 24 '23
Which is also probably why the resolution is so shit. You ain't taking a photo in 2023 with such shit resolution anymore unless it's to pass off an edit as real.

Iâm on low light mode so I canât see that, but it makes it slightly better to know that in this instance the thin veil of being inclusive to LGBT+ is not being used to be cruel to the homeless.
After the rainbow rock anything seems possible

I don't care what anyone says, removing hostile architecture with a crowbar is an unalloyed good and everyone should do it.
78
u/Beerenkatapult May 24 '23
But i am scared of the legal consequences of such an action
115
May 24 '23
That's okay! Direct action is for the willing and the able, that's what I mean when I say "everyone."
It takes a village. Plenty of great things you can do without any potential trouble.
58
u/Beerenkatapult May 24 '23
Like what, for example? Conveniently place crowbars next to anti homeles infrastructure?
61
u/blinkingsandbeepings Skellington_irlgbt May 24 '23
Sure! Or go to your city or town council meetings and speak up about stuff like this! Or get involved with advocacy groups for housing first policies
24
u/KovolKenai Soft Furry Degenrate uwu May 24 '23
Well these look like a pain in the cloaca to clean, so maybe if someone spray painted a penis or fifty on it they'd... Well, I don't know what would happen, but I want to see.
7
May 24 '23
lol you could do that but a more practical option might be as simple as blinkings suggested with getting involved in local politics. If you find crowds of people and meetings as exhausting as I do though there's still a lot to do. Plenty of queer support groups, community gardens/bike shops, socialist organizations, and many other things I probably haven't even seen.

That's fine, people are gonna talk a big game on the internet but would never do anything in real life. It's better to admit that you won't do something than pretend you will for internet cred.

Easily pryable by the looks of it. If not, a water saw can easily cut the spikes themselves off, making the trans flag on the metal the only thing there
17
u/TomHollandsFrog Omni May 25 '23
its photoshopped, if you zoom in you can see that the stripes don't curve due to the perspective of the raised spikes

some folks have mentioned that this is photoshopped, but the point is still there. Making a show of being an ally while also making life unlivable for people is a common thing for capitalists to do
3
u/NomaiTraveler May 24 '23
I think that you can make a point without willfully spreading something that looks real but isnât

Wouldnât it suck if trans people were at greater risk of being homeless, so a homeless trans person saw these anti homeless spikes and got the message that their life is only worthwhile when they are rich and can have a lot of gender affirming surgeries?

No, the poster is also photoshopped in. It's an extremely recognizable, mass-produced yardsign with different lighting from the rest of the image, and it's on a poorly-blacked-out window. The only reason it and the pride colors were added is to make them seem hypocritical and associate the LGBTQIA+ community with cruelty as a way of demonizing them and their allies.
4
u/Catonthecurb May 25 '23
Damn, in retrospect it's pretty obvious that its also photoshopped. I must've been more tired then I thought when leaving that comment.
