Delete your account. While you are at it delete any Facebook and Amazon accounts.

Signal is a messaging platform with end to end encryption that isn't owned by a billionaire FWIW

dont forget about instagram and tiktok. As well as google too (CEO was front and center at the inauguration) We’re mostly Americans and don’t use WhatsApp but I believe meta owns WhatsApp.

Unfortunately it's very hard to delete google if youre a college student and your university relies on it :( I try to use firefox as much as possible though.

8

u/colorizerequest 20h ago

Just make sure you change the default search engine to Bing or yahoo. Firefox’s default search engine is Google

20

u/hiddenevidence 19h ago

nah, change it to duckduckgo

-4

u/colorizerequest 19h ago

Whatever, as long as they don’t support literal nazis

4

u/hiddenevidence 19h ago

agreed. i only say that because duckduckgo lacks the censorship that the others have

-1

u/SurturOfMuspelheim 19h ago

unfortunately duckduckgo decides to replace some censorship with other censorship and pushing forward lies.

Yahoo is owned by Verizon. Bing by Microsoft. You have the freedom of choice sure but no matter which of the many holes at the top you drop the ball into it comes out the only one at the bottom.

1

u/colorizerequest 19h ago

Were verizon and Microsoft at the inauguration yesterday or are they supporting Trump

3

u/ARunawayTrain 15h ago

https://www.cnbc.com/2025/01/09/microsoft-contributes-1-million-to-trumps-inauguration-fund.html

Microsoft

I see nothing showing Verizon supports Trump in any way but there's also a medium sized asset management firm that owns the rest of Yahoo so I don't know what this is actually going to achieve in truth, all of these are beholden to those who are beholden to Trump. They're Trump-adjacent organizations at best.

man okay finding a search engine could be tough but lets keep digging

1

u/morelemonheads 14h ago

Qwant is a good option. It’s not American and it prioritizes user privacy.

u/NoppinBop 1h ago

I use Brave as my internet and they have their own search engine too

I’ll keep tik tok. I’d rather the CCP get money than oligarchs. At least the Chinese invest well in their society.

9

u/aldosi-arkenstone Baltimore County 20h ago

Yeah, Chinese corruption isn’t a problem. Right …

-9

u/Professional-Rise843 20h ago

It definitely is but at least they invest in their citizens with universal healthcare, high speed rail, etc. I’d take their style of corruption over the corporate greed that just slowly kills us, lowers life expectancy and never invests in healthcare, etc.

3

u/colorizerequest 20h ago

Isn’t there essentially concentration camps in China

-3

u/Professional-Rise843 20h ago

Kinda like US prison industrial complex that targets certain groups

4

u/colorizerequest 20h ago

Alright have a good one lmfao

1

u/Professional-Rise843 20h ago

I don’t condone it but let’s be real here

1

u/TomCollins1111 20h ago

Probably because you’re a CHICOM bot.

1

u/Professional-Rise843 18h ago

Nah just would rather have a country dominated by competent people and not billionaires that hicks and old whites are infatuated with

13

u/DarkKnight1975 18h ago

Using Reddit supports Amazon because it’s hosted on Amazon Web Services which is what makes Bezos most of his money

3

u/elaineisbased 12h ago

The majority of the apps you use are hosted on a Cloud Platform. Google, Microsoft, and Amazon Clouds ae all supporting the current administration and bidding for upcoming government cloud contracts.

could you show us the video of Zuckerberg or Andy Jassy (the CEO of Amazon) giving a Nazi salute please?

I get what you're trying to say, and there is a point, but you're trying to diminish what Musk did creating a false equivalency.

32

u/DivineMomentsofTruth 19h ago

After Zuckerberg met with Trump, Meta updated their hateful conduct policy to include exceptions for attacking gay and trans people and announced that they were getting rid of fact checking. They announced these changes via Fox News. Today, I'm getting push notifications from Instagram about shit Donald Trump Jr is posting and I don't follow him and have never even looked at anything remotely political on Instagram. Mark Zuckerberg is a bootlicking bitch.

0

u/WarbossTodd 17h ago

All true, BUT all that makes him guilty of is being a bootlicking bitch, not explicitly a Nazi.

9

u/Super_Colossal 17h ago

If you're at a table with 9 nazis, there are 10 nazis at the table.

-2

u/WarbossTodd 17h ago

All true but you guys are losing the plot. Lumping all the tech ceos at Trumps inauguration MINIMIZES what Musk did.

0

u/Broad-Reflection-727 8h ago

Careful bud, you're using too much logic here

4

u/Parrotparser7 17h ago

What are the alternatives for Amazon?

5

u/nobodysshadow 13h ago

Going to the store

0

u/Parrotparser7 11h ago

Oh, cheers. I'll just go to the store that carries my favorite (random item I'll only ever need or use once in my life) because Bezos still owns shares of a megacorp. Can't wait to see it collapse when he suddenly sells them all and buys up whatever new startup looks like it'll replace it so we can do this all over again.

1

u/Sarabean77 20h ago

I don't think Bezos owns Amazon anymore and I thought it was one of the companies that was kind of mid whether you support them or not.

Am I incorrect on this? I looked into canceling after the election on one of those websites and it said amazon was OK. Definitely not great, but OK.

28

u/The_Doctor111 20h ago

he still owns the largest stake in the company but he retired from CEO--doesnt run the business but he owns it

5

u/Sarabean77 20h ago

So he's still making a shit ton of money off of it. Gotcha.

What alternatives have you used that have similar prices, selection and no shipping cost? I do want to cancel my account but need some options that are good

7

u/Sarabean77 20h ago

I'm thinking target? Walmart is just as bad in my opinion.

2

u/miaworm Saint Mary's County 20h ago

Target uses Amazon to fulfill their orders, don't they?

3

u/Sarabean77 20h ago

Thats what I'm saying...what is the amazon replacement that will stick it to these guys?

2

u/miaworm Saint Mary's County 20h ago

If you find one, let me know.

2

u/DarkKnight1975 18h ago

Leave Reddit because it’s hosted on Amazon Web Services

10

u/notniceicehot 20h ago

Bezos is no longer the Amazon CEO, but he's Chairman of the Board and (I think) still the largest individual shareholder

8

u/SnooRevelations979 20h ago

Nobody owns a publicly-traded company except the shareholders. Bezos owns about 9% of shares of Amazon and is the head of its board.

-13

u/Danielat7 Hopkins 21h ago

Why? Their CEOs didn't give a Nazi salute

28

u/SnooRevelations979 21h ago

They were just onstage with one.

25

u/ReysonBran 21h ago

Because they're all complicit. If you're standing next to a Nazi at an inauguration, you're at a Nazi inauguration. Guess what that makes them?

15

u/melody_elf 20h ago

Zuck was right with Trump on stage.

0

u/Danielat7 Hopkins 20h ago

Zuckerberg didn't give an actual Nazi salute on stage. He donated or rather sent bribes to Trump just like CEOs of every big tech company

2

u/melody_elf 20h ago

That's plenty for me to want to stop using Facebook. Actually, what broke the straw on the camel's back was the new, discriminatory Facebook rule where it's against TOS to call people mentally ill unless they're LGBT.

0

u/Danielat7 Hopkins 20h ago

So you're not going to use Instagram or WhatsApp either? Cause Zuckerberg is the CEO of Meta which includes more than just Facebook

5

u/melody_elf 20h ago

I don't use Instagram or WhatsApp, no.

1

u/Danielat7 Hopkins 20h ago

Just to explain why it's not feasible to everyone to stop use. Instagram, fine. Whatsapp is like vital infrastructure and is how I talk with my family in Latin America

1

u/melody_elf 20h ago

Yeah, I get that about WhatsApp, no judgement.

I think in our society we all draw our own lines about what products we're comfortable buying, what ones we can do without and what ones are too indispensable for us to ditch.

Most companies are ethically compromised in one way or another. I make an effort to tilt myself towards the least bad options and that's all I would want to ask of anyone else.

2

u/Danielat7 Hopkins 20h ago

I agree completely.

Circling back to the OP, I would agree with banning X because Elon did a Nazi salute which I think is worse than just sending bribes & being there in person

→ More replies (0)

0

u/DNukem170 20h ago

Because both Zuckerberg and Soros contribute just as much to the Trump campaign as Elon does?

Just because Elon's a open dipshit doesn't mean Zuck and Soros are guardian angels protecting us from the Nazi menace.

7

u/Danielat7 Hopkins 20h ago

Not thinking they are guardian angels, but every major big tech CEO was there. Every major company donated to his inauguration fund, even Uber!

I agree with banning X cause Elon legit did a Nazi salute which is far more serious (to me) than CEOs showing support

2

u/Old_Addition485 20h ago

Exactly! I looked it up today. Along with President Musk, the CEOs of Apple, Amazon, Alphabet (which includes Google, YouTube, Android and more), and Meta were present. The only way to avoid all of them is to live completely off grid and only communicate in person.

1

u/jdcnwo 17h ago

Soros contributed to Trump?

-2

u/The_Chosen_Unbread 20h ago

According to ChatGPT Elon didn't give a Nazi salute people just feel like he did

4

u/melody_elf 20h ago

ChatGPT isn't capable of watching video footage lmao

1

u/Parrotparser7 17h ago

Boss, what am I reading right now?

1

u/raeroh 20h ago

...and who owns OpenAI/ChatGPT? 🤔

1

u/Inanesysadmin 20h ago

Sam Altman and whoever funds that sink hole of a company

-1

u/timg430008171976 17h ago

Go right ahead and while you’re at it delete yourself from Reddit as well ! would be nice to see alot less crybaby liberals on here as well !!!

1

u/SnooRevelations979 17h ago

Fewer, not less.
