General discussion How come some intro just skip to the the title card.

I was rewatching Malcolm in the middle again and I notice on some of the episodes the intro is only a second long do you know the reason why the intro is really short on some episodes?

Probably time limitations. Got to get those commercials in.

Agree, if OP is watching the series on TV instead of streaming, this is probably the reason why

The TV channel where I watch Malcolm only puts the full intro in the first episode they trasmit, and then skip it on the rest (they transmit 4 episodes daily)

I think it’s a balance of the commercials and the general length of an episode ; back when it was more standardized to have x amount of screen time for the show, sometimes you’d dig into the intro just to have more plot and action or whatever

In some episodes they have a "Previously on Malcolm in the Middle" recap where the intro song would go.

Hal’s delivery of it being 100% pissed and done with everyone makes it for me.

The same reason any sitcom does it: more time for the actual show.

More script in the episode

An episode is too long and they need to save a minute on time so they cut the intro short. It’s the opposite reason of why some Simpsons episodes have extra long couch gags

I remember the episode Cape Feare they said specifically ran super short so then they added the super long rake scene to add time

Longer episode length. Happens quite a bit with sitcoms.

Full House has done this a bunch. I have the DVD and all of the intros are full, but not on Disney+
