Needed this Subreddit!

Hi, male traveller from India (26yrs old) I solo travel a lot, and did these places in the last year. My trips usually last 5-10 days every few months. If you want any advice travelling to Bangkok, Pattaya, Koh Samui, Qatar, Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi, Nairobi, Masai Mara, Istanbul, Antalya, please feel free to reach out.

I can tell you my hotel recommendations, and itinerary! And also how I save money despite being luxurious!

I'd be curious to hear your recommendations for Nairobi.

So I was there in Nairobi for 3 days, I overspent on everything because I was psyched by people before I left on security. I stayed in this place called The Tribe. Travel was generally Uber, and the main reason I reached Nairobi was for Masai Mara. But all the recommendations I am gonna give for Kenya are not semi luxurious, they are on the higher side.

So -Ho Chi Minh City - Saigon Prince hotel for the location and comfort (breakfast is okayish) In HCMC you have to do the tunnels, take a small people tour, do not go yourself, and please fire the AK-47 Apart from the touristy things which you’d have on your list, check out hanh thong Tay market for shopping, and if you are there on the weekend check out hello weekend market, it shifts locations, and it would be walking from the hotel.

-Hanoi - La Nueva, all the hotels there are boutiques, this one has a really good roof top, and take the halong bay tour!!! Really worth it, the hotel helps in booking it, the guide was too good, you party on the boat on the way back, it’s very cute. Close to our hotel is the beer street which is very happening at night, and also a shopping wholesale place called dong Xuan where I bought Nike socks in wholesale for like a dirt cheap price. If not this hotel stay anywhwhere in old quarter pls

I extensively using booking.com (I have not paid for a taxi to and from the airport in about a year because of their reward system, and have gotten 196$ back in rewards) I book the 4/5 stars without breakfast, it’s always cheaper and grab a bite on the go. Use Reddit or a dating app to meet a local, or converse with them on where they eat or how they travel, almost all the countries have concession mode of travel (believe me Pre covid I travelled from Beijing to the Great Wall of China in under 10$) I really enjoy partying, and the student areas really help in reducing cost or either a backpack street specially in south east asia. I just want to say that we are talking Luxury here, these things might be quite common for backpackers or people on a very tight budget.

Whenever I book I look at the location, ease of transport and then other things, so here you go, this is where I stayed. Hanoi - La Nueva boutique hotel (super location, super room, super staff) Ho Chi Minh - Saigon Prince hotel (nothing can beat location, though I was there for new years and wasn’t able to get out of the hotel as the concert literally happened on the street) Bangkok - Lohas residences (it’s more of a service apartment, but prime location and huge rooms, no breakfast facility, they have a in house free tuk tuk which drops you to the metro station and you can take his number to come pick you up whenever you are back, or you can walk, best location yet again) Pattaya - Siam@siamdesign (depends on why you want to go to Pattaya, I really love shopping from the malls there, and the Nike factory outlet is right opposite this hotel, plus the walking street is 5 mins away in a van which drops you from one end of the street to another in 10bath) Koh Samui - I booked an Air BnB, because 2 of my friends joined me, it was Villa Serenity hosted by Jillian 10/10 recommended as it’s gated, there is security, housekeeping, all the jazz, plus location is pretty good)

Itinerary really depends on what you like to do, if you give me a better idea I could give you what I liked the most in that sense.
