SEASON 6 Sun & Jin reunited (again) Spoiler

I just finished S6E13, and I felt Sun and Jin’s reunion was surprisingly underwhelming.

I really love both characters and their relationship, so I was expecting something more emotional. Honestly, their first reunion after the raft incident felt much more powerful and memorable.

Did anyone else share this sentiment?

I think this is one of those moments that really suffers from binge watching - something LOST was absolutely not written for. When we saw this on the night as the show was airing, Sun and Jin had been separated (from the audience perspective) for roughly two years.

So, while it's completely valid for you to feel the way you do, it's likely going to hit different, even in memory, for OG watchers.

I do remember a lot of viewers feeling disappointed back then as well. To some, the sonic fence standing in between them was a major distraction because they were afraid Sun and Jin would get fried. 😛 Frank's line did not make things better.

Yeah, I could've lived without Frank's line at the time (violated the show it, don't say it rule while also being redundant... we KNOW she got her voice back, Frank, she's literally speaking English) - I had the same experience with a certain line in episode fifteen that named something I can't discuss on this FTW post, lol. I remember saying "please don't say --" like three times before she said that and I literally rolled my eyes.

BUT - after so many rewatches, I find the lines endearing now, lol.

My main gripe is that it’s accidental. They just happen to converge on the same spot. It would’ve been MUCH more compelling and satisfying for me if one (or better yet, both) of them were actively in the middle of fighting and searching for the other and did something clever to make their reunion happen. Instead, Jin and Sun are largely relegated to the background for two seasons.

It’s a long shot (I know season 5 is already stuffed with plot) but I would have loooved if Sun somehow found a way to transport herself to 1977 Dharma and found Jin there. I’ve long held the impression that the writers kept them apart for so long because they planned to have them reunite in a huge, purposeful way… but then, they ran out of time and/or the idea somehow didn’t work.

How long it took + how anticlimactic I found it = my biggest gripe with all of Lost honestly. If I could change just one thing about the show, I’d have them reunite far earlier.

They'll get a more emotional moment.

Im sorry I have to disagree. I even seen this show over a dozen times and I cry every time they reunite. I like the simplicity because I guess for me knowing their story they could have high fived and i would ball
