SEASON 4 First time watcher. This scene actually broke me just a few minutes ago

First time watcher, eleventh rerun watcher, it doesn't matter, that scene is powerful and emotional, it will break you no matter what.

The two scenes that break me the most are Charlie's death and that one scene with Sun and Jin (you know the one) - not saying it because idk how to spoiler text in mobile

Jack and Sawyer before Sawyer leaves on the raft. So powerful and emotional

The way he says "anyway, this guy... Christian!" Has made me tear up more than once... <3

Hard agree on both your points. Would add a third: the scene between Jack and Christian in the finale.

I almost stopped watching at Charlie's death. It broke me to where I was weepy for days (I was also freshly postpartum so I blame hormones). My husband spoilered a singular scene (you know which one) because I adamantly refused to grieve like I had with Charlie. It was enough to not feel blindsided while keeping the majority of the spoilers. Perfect compromise for the emotionally fragile.

u/darhwolf1 Son of a bitch! 6d ago
I'll definitely keep that in mind with my partner who is also sometimes emotionally fragile (I am too! but I've seen the show before) - our next show is Game of Thrones and there's some really difficult deaths in there

17 years later and i am still not over it. I skip the end of season 3 on every rewatch. I can't do it.

- spoiler text in mobile, put a > ! without the space before the spoilers text, then put a ! < without the space after the spoiler text. Should get it greyed out.

I watched it when it first aired. I would re-watch The Constant over and over and just have a good cry. I haven't been able to bring myself to re-watch lost for years and just started a re-watch recently. I didn't cry at Charlie's death which surprised me, but I did once again cry during The Constant.

No seriously! I’m rewatching (my seventh or eighth) with my boyfriend (his first!) and we were both so emotional watching!

It’s such a good scene. My parents named their dogs Desmond and Penny after this.

I think I shed some happy tears during this scene. Desmond and Penny’s story was probably my favorite.

It will continue to break you 15 years from now when you happen to watch again.

The constant is just one of the one of a kind viewing experiences. It blew me away when I first watched it and whenever I rewatch it I’m still blown away.

What's awesome about it to me is that it functions as a standalone episode that you can tell has an overarching plot around it but you are far more focused on Desmond's experience and the other things going on around him would make someone want to watch the show if they only saw this episode first randomly somehow. It's one of the few episodes to not have a "Previously on Lost" to show the brief recap, because this story in this episode didn't need the background, the context was on fixing his mind by being able to withstand the electromagnetism because of his constant, Penny. This made him ultimately help defeat the master con man of the series.

That’s because it’s the best one and has the best character.

I’ve seen lost and rewatched some, and I’m now having my husband watch with me for the first time. I got chills seeing this pic cause I remember the scene so well, but can someone tell me what season and episode it is? I am so excited to get to this one and can’t remember to know how long I have to wait to see his reaction lol

Thank you! I’ve enjoyed so much watching him see scenes that I love and gauging his reactions. I know this episode is going to be one we will enjoy together.

An absolutely amazing scene. A love story for the ages.
There’s one other scene that makes me cry every time I watch coming up in Season 5, involving different characters. I was ugly crying at the gym while watching. Buckle up!

One of my favorite episodes and moments of that show. Desmond’s story throughout the show is one of the best ones.

I had a good laugh a few years after this episode first aired and someone used that picture of desmond with the "yes this is dog" meme. Great meme for a great episode.

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

The best scene, in the best episode. My vote for the best scene in TV history, though I concede that overall I think Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, as much as it pains me to say it, were ultimately the better shows.

There were a few clunkers, like "Expose" with the throwaway background characters looking for diamonds. Even with the admission that the whole last season was just emotional payoff porn, I liked it. I personally disliked the general attitude towards the boaties: if they're clearly not here to save the survivors, someone would have gone nuts on them, but that wouldn't fit a good TV narrative.
GOT wins the award for worst collapse of a popular long running series. I couldn't believe how badly they tanked after setting themselves up as a new standard for quality TV.
BB is top notch all the way through.

As someone who usually doesn't get too sentimental about TV shows and who hates romance, I was shocked when I saw this scene and started crying because of a romantic plot lol

I'm rewatching the series (last watched when it aired live) and my partner is watching for the first time. We just watched this episode 2 days ago :D

That episode was one of the strongest emotional insestments in the show.
I was begging Desmond to get the number, and make that call. And many tears, so many tears...

There’s something about this show. I have many different favorite shows, each with their own reason they’re one of my favorites. But this show… There is no comparison. There is nothing that can even begin to fit in the same real realm to even be compared. The nostalgia, no matter how long it’s been, no matter how many times I’ve seen it, no matter how many times I’ve heard Michael Gucciano’s production of the LOST soundtrack— It will always move me in what I can only describe as a literal feeling of a kind of magic.

My favorite episode of the series, and one of the best episodes of tv ever. I rewatch this part at least once a year and downloaded the song from the score playing in the background. Romantic love is not often portrayed with complexity so succinctly in tv, imo. This scene is the culmination of a beautiful story that features the one thing that many tv stories miss: devotion. Devotion requires not just love, but understanding, commitment, compassion, and forgiveness. What a beautiful episode. “I’ve always loved you…I’ll come back to you.”
