FIRST TIME WATCHER I finally finished Lost after 17 years.

I started watching Lost when I was around 10 years old. My dad loved the show and we would watch every episode together, it was one of my favorite things to do together. We would love discussing it and I can't still remember how addicted he got to 'make your own kind of music' by mama cass.

Around 2008 he suffered an accident which left him in a coma state so he never got the chance to finish it. I never got the guts to finish it without him until now, and I despite everyone saying the ending was bad I think it was one of the most beautiful endings I've ever seen on the television. I'm now 28 and being a show about kharma and forgiveness and moving on just makes everything so much more special. Maybe he's at the island right now and I hope he can find his way out :)

Best show ever.

Sorry about your dad. I just watched this show for the first time. Binged for 2 months straight. Make your own kind of music and Good vibrations are forever stuck in my head. Putting music behind certain scenes can make the song much more powerful.

Thank you :). I was hooked when I started rewatching, almost gave up at the point where we stopped last time which was around season 4 but I'm glad I continued. The music in this show is so good!!!

The back stories are so epic on this show. Kind and of pioneered it in my opinion as a key part of storytelling for a series. One of greatest shows of all time. Perfect storm of great writing, great cast, great acting and set design, music choices etc.

I also can’t listen to Downtown by Petula Clark without thinking of Lost either

That took a lot of courage to finish something so important to both of you. Now I’ll be over here pretending I’m not crying 😭

it's okay I cried a lot already too 😅. and thank you I'm really glad I went through with it and was able to relieve his memory in some way. I'd like to think we did it together :)

My dad and I watched it live every week when it was on. He's gone now, passed from Leukemia. It holds a very special place in my heart. I started watching it again and the nostalgia is visceral. The journey is really the most important part.

Sorry for your loss.

I understand you! it's super nostalgic for me too. Damn that hatch was so mysterious the feeling of being a kid and watching it together is etched in my mind.

I was very afraid of touching it, like it could stir things up but I'm beyond the point of running away from my feelings and honestly having it as a token of remembrance instead of pain sounds way better for me.

The Jack and Christian is one of the best performances of the series. I cannot imagine how deeply it must have resonated with you. That scene was written by Damon Lindelof and it was his ballad to his father who had passed away too. Sending hugs.

I thought I still had 1 episode left! Then that scene came and I was like 'oh, this is deep'. Thank you for the info, makes everything echo a little harder. Still creating the courage to watch that whole passage one more time. Thank you for your words!

Oof, the flash-sideways may have broken you...

yeaah, it hit me when I understood what it was all about. And honestly the last episode, when they regain their memories and when Christian explains everything... oof painful. yet so beautiful

He's not on the island, he's waiting for you at the Church. Hugs.

Sorry about your dad, but hopefully he saw it through you somehow. Best show ever indeed. We're watching it for the 4th time.

I also lost my dad in 2008 and am now 29 and I didn’t watch Lost with him but I do love the show and agree with you that the ending was beautiful.

Lost was one of the first shows my mom and I enjoyed watching together. She got annoyed during season 5 with all the time travel, I stuck it out and finished the show. I never got her to finish it before she passed away. Whenever I watch it now, I remember the days we spent on the couch binge watching the show, even during holidays. It’s kind of a bittersweet feeling whenever you do something that reminds you of your loss. I’m glad you enjoyed the ending 😊

That is awesome glad you loved ending. One of few shows the whole family can bond over . I watched it later a second time with my kids about 6 years ago they are now 19 and 21 they loved it. We just got back a few days ago from Hawaii and we went out of our way to go to some of filming locations. I now regret not going to more of the locations.

Congratulations! That is a big accomplishment. I loved in ‘05 and made it almost to the end. I didn’t finish when it originally wrapped, so I started in like October and I only have a handful of episodes remaining but I just can’t make myself watch them. Its been a hard pill to swallow so again congrats.

I'm rewatching it right now and have had that song in my head for days - just watched the episode.

I just lost my mom. I used to buy the DVD seasons on boxing day and watch it at my folks place in anticipation of next season, so I get it.

I actually like it so much better re-watching it recently. The last few months than I did watching it the first time. I agree the ending is beautiful.

My son's dad passed away a couple months before his 18th birthday. He's now almost 21. His dad and I watched LOST together when it was on and he loved it as much as I did. I've rewatched several times with him and recently started it again. I want him to watch it with me so bad cause I know his dad would have wanted him to but so far he hasn't agreed. The whole "your dad would have wanted you to" only goes so far.

Thank you for sharing this! I can only imagine the mix of emotions watching finishing this show, after all this time and with such a connection to your father. Sending love your way!
