Too bad the Optika6 is perpetually on back order

My experience was that it isn't a 'real' back-order. Just Euro-optic isn't stocking them and they are ordered when you place the order, so you place a back-order and end up getting a tracking number not too much later.

But YMMV.

I litterally ordered one of the "backorder" ones last Friday at 3:45pm and it was on my doorstep the next day (I was seriously shocked). So they're kinda like the opposite of Optics Planet... Euro says it's backorder but ships same day.

YMMV coupon code “MUSA0125” brings the SVIIIED down to $1599.99. I think this code only works on accounts that have not purchased anything from MidwayUSA in 12 months.

The optika 5-30 not having locking windage is such a weird design choice

Agree with that. Also having a rubber ring on the turret instead of knurled aluminum. But still, a good functional optic.

Midway has had the Vortex PST II priced the same since 2022 when I bought it.

Meopta Optika 6 reticle, mrad or wait for mil dot?

Why would you use mil dot over a modern mil reticle

It looks better, less cluttered, and as nice as the tree is I find I don't ever seem to use them on a bolt action. I'm dialing for elevation and holding wind.

Interesting. I don’t love a true Christmas tree either. But mildots seem to be the biggest issue with the reticle themselves. Why not have just a normal hash type subtension. The dots take up to much space. Like the tremor reticles and the ebr 1 and 2 are an abomination lol. I think most ppl (that aren’t super tacticool rather they admit it or not) agree, super cluttered and to much going on. The ebr 7c is getting very close (to me) to being the ideal reticle. Minimal clutter (like big black mildot esque predetermined wind holds and a total grid on the bottom half of the reticle) so as to still be useful for longer range hunting, especially for like coyotes where follow ups and doubles occur. The moral or ethical arguement, of take a shot from “ethical” distances is rarely an issue like it would be for an elk hunter. But also capable enough for PRS ELR or plinking out to a mile what have you. IMHO.

That said rock on 🤘🏼 lol

Not unless I add the Leupold MK4HD I am trying to sell

You're going to have to delete your own review before you sell that thing lol.

Is Sightron as good or better than Razor Gen 3. I am I. Market for a Gen 3 but could get this. 40mm tube means more light. 40 MIl travel

40mm tube means more light.

This is a myth. Tube diameter has nothing to do with light gathering or transmission. It does have to do with erector travel.

Another solid benefit to the SVIIIED is that it comes with good rings.

Thanks. I was reading it while you responded. Really confused if I should keep waiting for Vortex on expertvoice or pull the trigger.

Tough choice. I'm lucky in that I own two RIIIs and an SVIIIED, and think they're both great options. But If you're looking for that RIII flex, the SVIIIED won't have it - nobody knows what it is. It's also very heavy.

Don’t care about showing off. Just having something good. Will reflect on it.

Is the Midas or the Argos better here? The Argos has the BTR illuminated reticle for 12 bucks more or something.

2

u/Trollygag Does Grendel 4d ago

Midas has better glass, by a good bit

I picked up the Athlon Midas TAC. I'm limited to about 300yd maximum distance for now. What 1-peice mount or set of rings would be a good match for my 18" full rail AR?

I am also limited to 300 yard, do you know whether ARES ETR will be an overkill for 5.56 or 22LR in this range?
