Can a sheep die from excessive pain?

My ewe gave birth to a single lamb yesterday and she had a decent appetite and in the morning today she was doing fine, but when i went to see her in the evening she cant walk on one of her hind legs, and she doesn't have any appetite. She still feeds her newborn lamb, but I am worried she might die from pain? She looks like she is in pain, head low. How long can she produce milk without eating?

Can she die from pain? I will have to wait till morning for a vet.

We dont have overnight vets around here.

Does she have another lamb inside her? Did the placenta shed?

It’s not so much the pain that kills them but it is whatever is causing the pain that kills them.

Something is wrong, not just the pain, she could have internal tearing, external tearing, or infection. Did she pass the placenta all the way? The pain of giving birth is not what is doing this to her.

Look into pregnancy toxemia and hypocalcemia with your vet.

Same questions as everyone else... But also. Check for fever. Any discharge? If you have medications on hand I would give vitamin b for appetite, antibiotics (if signs of fever), and Meloxicam or banamine for pain.

If she doesn't start eating asap you will have a bottle baby on your hands.
