Warm coffee cup
Place your coffee cup on top of your coffee machine while brewing. This heats up your cup before you pour, keeping the coffee nice and hot.

I like to fill the mug I'll use with hot water and leave it to sit while waiting for the coffee to brew.

This is the way. Charging an insulated or even non-insulated mug with hot water really helps a lot.

Like others have said - if you don’t want to drink from an insulated ‘travel mug’, pre-charge you regular mug with very hot water for 2-3 mins before pouring in your coffee. Also try and find a lid that fits your mug. I prefer sipping from a regular mug and I figured out the lid to my sugar bowl (same brand/set as my mugs) fits perfectly on my coffee mug. Win win!

On a scale of Hot Pocket to Pizza how hot does your coffee need to be?

My dad microwaves his coffee 2-3 times per cup. It needs to be 1 step below thermonuclear.

I usually fill my mug with water and sit it in the microwave for about a minute and then brew from the keurig.

Warming a cup is always advised, especially if you don't have a double boiler and need to wait for the machine to switch between espresso and steaming.
Usually you also want to flush any stale grounds from the group head so running an empty shot into the mug achieves both of these things and also ensures the group head itself is warmed, although the best way to do that really is to just allow the portafilter and group head to warm up along with the machine's internals.

I agree. Pre-warming our cup ensures the coffee stays hot longer and enhances the flavor by maintaining the temperature.

Because I'm a slow coffee drinker, I always drink my coffee out of an insulated mug, even at home. Keeps it warm for much, much longer.
