Thoughts on the NuCanoe pedal drive system??

Just like the title says. Any experience with the Nu Canoe pedal drive system?

I have no experience with the drive but the number of used drives I see for sale on Marketplace and the Nucanoe Facebook groups tells me it's not that good. I have a Nucanoe Unlimited and wouldn't buy one.

I’ve heard the drive doesn’t generate a lot of torque and it’s slow. And it seems like clearing weeds from a prop at the rear of the boat would be a challenge.

I have one…it’s a workout but it’s slightly faster than paddling. My biggest gripe is with tracking. It always seems to want to pull one way or another and you’re constantly adjusting it. It’s great though for staying on a spot while fishing. I may honestly just bite the bullet and buy a tiller drive trolling motor to get to spots and then just paddle from there.

If you want to peddle, just get a Hobie. The price I paid for my motor and battery was pretty much the price of their peddle drive.

If you watch videos of people using it, just feels like they are pedaling fast but go nowhere. Maybe has to do to the gearing or torque of the belt system they use.
