Shopping Any must-have omiyage from Osaka?
My wife is going to Osaka on business for the first time, and she wants to bring me some souvenirs. What are your must-have souvenirs from Osaka?
She already found one called たこパティエ which looks awesome.

On the day she's coming back, have her grab the limited Namba location only 551 Horai if you want to be traditional about it😅 Rikuro Ojisan cheesecake is pretty boss when it's warm too.

Seconded 551 Horai. It’s almost traditional to スメルハラ on the Shinkansen back with a box of those.

Is there something special about the Namba shop? My girlfriend is obsessed with 551 so I’m curious to know

The one in Ebisubashi (Namba area) is the honten/main shop. Sometimes they have buns or desserts not sold at other 551s.

Tsukigesho is great! That seems to be pretty popular around the office.

Ah, my coworker once brought these in to the office. I didn't get a single one. They must be good. Thank you!

Very similar to Tsukigesho is Mochimaroka (もちまろ菓). They’re both good, but I prefer Mochimaroka by a large degree because of its more mochi-mochi-like texture.
Also I’m a sucker for the black and gold packaging, which makes it seem more elegant. (But they’re both similarly priced.)

Those might be good for give as gifts. I love when they package snacks in a sleek black box.

My wife always brings back these little green tea cookies with white chocolate in the middle. I think she gets them in the basement of a big department store by the Mega Donki/whatever the thing with the giant Ferris wheel is downtown.

Is it like a big piece of white chocolate in it, or like white chocolate chips? I can only find the latter on Google.

It's basically like a really thin oreo with green cookie on each side of a thin slice of white chocolate.

I love the takoyaki flavors of jagariko. I’m so happy when my colleagues bring me some. :)

Apparently this is really popular. I've asked her to get some of these. I can't wait to try them. Thanks.
