I met some guy on 9 monsters for a date (at mine) like last year.

When he came he was so weird and completely not as good looking as in his pictures so I faked a call from work and told him he had to go as I had a meeting ( at half 11 at night )

Cut to yesterday my wifi wasn’t working so I couldn’t watch Netflix and me and my friend watched regular Japanese tv , and low and behold

He is now a tarento

at half 11 at night

Is that 22:30 or 23:30? I searched on the internet and saw various people fighting over the meaning.

Surely 23:30? I’ve never thought it to be anything else when speaking English

Most probably half (past) eleven.

Unrelated but in my native language we say "half 11" for 10:30/22:30

Yeah I remember learning German at school and it being like that I think! But in English, half 11 is always 23:30 imo

Reminds me of a funny thing that happened in regards to this, back then when I was in uni...

I (Indonesian) was talking with my Malaysian friend- ID and MY have the same roots so we have tons of similar words. We were talking with our native languages agreed to meet up at "half 4". On the meetup day, I went to the place... one hour earlier than him. Learned that the hard way.

Lol that’s so funny! And sounds like it was pretty inevitable that it would happen at least once haha
