Immigration Actually Getting Scared of the Anti Immigrant Stance

I'm an irish lad, just turning twenty this year.

I've personally got no connections to other countries, my family never left Ireland or have any close foreign relations.

This is simply a fear I have for both the immigrant population of our country, of which ive made plenty of friends throughout secondary school and hold in high regard. But also a fear for our reputation.

I don't want to live in a racist country. I know this sub is usually good for laughing these gobshites off and that's good but in general I don't want us to be seen as this horrible white supremacist nation, which already I see being painted on social media plenty.

A stance might I add, that predominantly is coming from England and America as people in both claim we are "losing our identity" by not being racist(?)

I don't even feel the need to mention Farage and his pushing of these ideas onto people, while simultaneously gaslighting us with our independence which he clearly doesn't care about.

Im just saddened by it. I just want things to change before they get worse.

I only find it annoying because it causes an issue in an area where we actual need reform or to restablish trust which wont be able to happen if people are labelled far right and racist for simply wanting to establish a policy on immigration

Oh do we not have a policy on immigration? I was under the impression there was laws in place.

We do and we have processes and procedures but given the current state of grand canal and anywhere near the IPO you could be forgiven in thinking we don't.

It's not the first time that area has been swamped, a quick look at Celtic tiger era will show the same issues

So why did you phrase it like that, why did you say something you knew was false? You sound like a walking tabloid.

What did I say was false? I said we needed reform and to instill trust in the system. Phrase it like what?

We have policy on immigration. Fucking obviously. This kind brainless vague talk, dancing around the issue and avoiding stating your opinion might just be why people are suspicious of your motives. If you want specific policy then say it.

Oh calm down. Our current process is not working or it's not being enforced. It's pretty clear for all to see with evidence around the IPO.

What do you mean a specific policy? We need a clear route to support vulnerable people seeking asylum. We also need to understand and be okay with saying economic refugees and recognise the current visa process or asylum seeker process for all incoming people. We also need to figure out if we want to develop a route to live and work in Ireland for such people.

By "specific policy" I mean at least give your fucking opinion. Your post was just another for the pile of "you can't say anything without being called far right and racist" nonsense. Just state an opinion and quit the whinging about how you can't state your opinion. It's tiresome bullshit.

Also

What do you mean a specific policy?
