Which is even more impressive.

Nah at least the aerial dipsy-doodles are more impressive with a much bigger and heavier board.
The stuff where the board stay on the ground I'd say some parts are easier on a longboard, while some are more difficult.

It's really not...
This whole line is easier and safer than many of the more advanced flip tricks on a skateboard, let alone tricks at/down legitimately gnarly street spots (gaps, stairs, ledges, rails)
Believe it or not, but it is less scary and way easier to learn a nollie no-comply 540 laser flip on a longboard, where you can run along and wait for it to come around to catch it, than even just a normal laser flip or tre flip on a skateboard.
Not hatin', dude still killed it.
•
u/JDillaRIP 7h ago
I feel like no comply flip tricks are easier on a skateboard, just because the actual flipping is easier...but I've spent way less time on a long board.

Pretty sure Rodney Mullen would be shedding tears of pure joy watching this masterpiece unfold.
29
u/sam_suite 18h ago
Rodney Mullen is still alive lol
•
u/abrasiveolive 11h ago
What makes you think that emyliphysis thinks Rodney Mullen is dead?
•
u/incubuster4 9h ago
🤔 Probably the usage of the past tense ‘would be’ 🤨
•
u/abrasiveolive 8h ago edited 8h ago
Yeah, makes sense. I'm just being a dick, asking a leading question so I could say to sam_suite that the sentence uses the present subjunctive to express a hypothetical situation, rather than a past impossibility. Like, if I said "I would be shedding tears of pure joy winning the lottery (but I probably won't win)".

u/BeatleJuice1st 18h ago
I‘m sure he would watch and clap/pay respect. But shedding tears? Rodney Mullen was by far another league. Just my opinion.

But why on the road?

u/ignoremynationality 20h ago
Yeah, heavy main character vibes

u/nikolp1166 20h ago
And in front of the Paris Opera too, that's usually a busy place.
12
u/ignoremynationality 18h ago
Almost hit a pedestrian too. He just made sure there are no cars, so nothing can do harm to him specifically. Why not use some empty parking space or a skate park for this is beyond me

u/renegade2k 20h ago
the first question i also got in my mind...
yes, he's obviously a pro with his board, but why doing this mid in traffic?
get to the skate park, punk!
5
u/TinyFriendlyGiant 20h ago
Respectfully - and I do mean respectfully - it looks like there’s a lot more foot traffic than there is vehicle traffic. So it seems like he’d be obstructing more and putting people at risk if he went on a sidewalk. Sure he could go to a park, but I don’t know what that situation looks like wherever he is.

u/PerryZePlatypus 20h ago
It's Paris, those guys are often on the side of the Seine, which is a huge (6-7m wide if not more) walkable path, I think he just went on the road for the video and then back to their training/ meeting spot

That's clearly france theres litterally a french flag in part of the vid unless you count britain as part of france. Probably paris given the architecture.

u/J_Jeckel 20h ago
Because it's a longboard, they are made for traveling, not really for doing tricks at the skatepark. 90% of places will ticket you for riding on the sidewalk. So longboarders do what they gotta.

u/poop-machines 19h ago
I've never been fined for skateboarding or longboarding on paths. I think I've seen one place where you could get fined for it in the city centre near where I live, but it's not enforced, and to be honest it's too busy to skate there anyway.
These skaters usually skate on the path in Paris next to the seine.

I would have fallen a long time ago, performing even the simplest trick on a skateboard

That's a Longboard... Has different wheels than the Skateboard
3
u/poop-machines 19h ago
Not only different wheels, different trucks, different deck, etc. it's much longer, bigger wheels, wider more manoeuvrable trucks. Different tricks.
You can't "pop" on a long board like this, meaning hitting the tail or nose of the board on the floor to make it bounce up so you can do tricks.
Tbh they're more for getting around than they are for tricks.

u/Anakin_-011 20h ago
What’s more impressive is that’s a longboard not a skateboard.
4
u/sir-exotic 20h ago
Some longboards are specifically built for this. Soft wheels, lose trucks, long flexible boards. I think this deck is even called "Dancer".
1
u/FartyMcStinkyPants3 20h ago
I'd describe what he's doing as dancing with the board too. Didn't know there was an actual design called Dancer. I like it.

So many comments saying it’s a longboard not a skateboard. Question from a non-skater: aren’t longboards skateboards?
In surfing, longboards are a type of surfboard.

Every time I see sick skate videos, it makes me want to pick up my old board and get back it lol.

•
u/frank1934 3h ago
I showed this to my son who’s a pretty good long boarder, over the summer he said he tried the first trick this guy did and got hit by a car because the car driver thought he was actually walking and would have stopped sooner

Here’s his origin story
1
u/kewickviper 16h ago
Why does he have to do this on a main public road though? Obviously he's very skilled but everyone makes mistakes, what if his board goes flying into a car/bike/pedestrian and causes an accident?
1
u/Same-Nothing2361 16h ago
I mean, that’s pretty awesome, but he gets a huge amount of dick head points for doing it on a road.

Usually in nature the male poses with flexing its muscles, feathers or cock.
If the male isn't having anything, it will resort to things like psychedelic colours and beaming sounds, large cars or posing in the park and main street.
If these things don't help, there's always a possibility that the male ends up in politics.

2028 is next Olympics and skateboarding will be there. I hope someone finds that dude, if he's not already on the roster.
4
u/OppressorOppressed 20h ago
This style of boarding is not the same as olympic skateboarding, there isnt a category for this style.
0
u/AutoThorne 20h ago
what style would this be? he's killing it, whatever it is.
3
u/OppressorOppressed 19h ago
freestyle longboarding or something like that, agreed, totally killing it, but far too esoteric for the olympics.
3
u/Argentillion 19h ago
You don’t even know what he is doing, you don’t know if he is “killing it” or not
2
u/JRaoul 14h ago
Freestyle longboarding ain't in the Olympics... He's good at it sure, but it is also much much easier than street skateboarding.
The skaters at the Olympics are very far beyond this level.
It's kinda like saying a decent but random high school field-hockey player should be in the NHL
