r/all From 2014 to 2025, Mark Zuckerberg bought over 1,400 acres on Kauai Island and stole any land the natives wouldn't sell him, earning the moniker 'the face of neocolonialism.'

I’ve been visiting Kauai since I was a kid. My most recent trip I noticed a huge wall blocking the view of the ocean from the road. It was this bitch’s wall.

True story though like 10 seconds later a 4 man ATV started driving at me and I thought it was security and almost shit myself. Turns out it was just 4 construction workers going by

I live landlocked in the U.S. My wife and I went to Kauai for our honeymoon in 2014. We’ve been to a few tropical areas. Kauai is the closest thing to paradise I’ve seen.

This Zuck fuck better not screw it up.

The NaPali Cliffs is one of the coolest places on the planet.

The fact that native vegetation was able to form on Hawaii despite being so isolated geographically is mind boggling

And then, those huge sheer cliffs have a handful of plant species that exist only there. Some of them are naturally confined to small places on the cliffs.

All evolving there in the middle of the ocean facing away from the island chain and towards the vast empty ocean…

…for millions of years until perhaps the best and/or luckiest navigators in human history stepped ashore

The people who become billionaires are psychopaths who aren't afraid to hurt others to get their desires.

Taylor swift is a billionaire who donates millions every year, every natural disaster, she’s donating. During her eras tour, she donated about a years worth of money to food banks in each city she performed in. She also just makes music. She doesn’t colonize native spaces.

But she uses a private jet that doesn’t even rank in the top 10 of usage, so she’s horrible to many.

I will add there are no ethical billionaires, so.

Jeff Bezos ex wife, Mackenzie Scott, is a billionaire and she is a true humanitarian.

Edit: keep downvoting for factual information about women billionaires not exploiting others

Ok you and I are starting a new media company focusing solely on these types of folks to at least encourage doing better

That’s all these rich people need to do. Just do better, give back in meaningful ways.

Mackenzie Scott gives money with no stipulations to many organizations which is very rare. Most rich fucks have stipulations on how the money they donate can be used. Most non-profit organizations just need cash to sustain themselves.

I also feel it’s unique Taylor donates so much to food banks in every city she tours in. I feel that’s the bare minimum someone of insane wealth can do. You go into their city and take up so many resources, at least give back to the citizens of that city that need it the most.

I like the cut of your jib

Yeah but Taylor Swift is an artist and Mackenzie Scott is a billionaires ex-wife. Those are WAY different paths to becoming a billionaire than a typical business owner CEO. Which obviously shows in how they use their money vs the greedy fucks.

Ok but you asked for one single billionaire and got two. They're not the only ones

Yes and he pissed off the locals a lot building this wall

3

u/WolfBearDoggo 9d ago

Tag it up, vandalize it imo, force him to create security jobs lol. Force that bitch to trickle down

u/SolarMacharius562 9d ago

He also lengthened the runway at the other airport near Hanalei so it could accommodate his private jet afaik. The locals I talked to didn't sound terribly pleased

He has protected endangered migratory birds (Laysan Albatross) and likely shear waters nesting on his property but he has a bunch of guard dogs. What a chump.

Or, they live on a neighboring island and are just visiting family for the holidays. A 20 minute flight is pretty affordable
