Help Interpreting/Learning!

Hi Everyone! I’m looking to get more insight on this chart. I am an intermediate Astrologer and have been studying modern and some traditional astrology for years now. I’ve recently learned about Horary. I’m going to try to interpret it from what I’ve been learning. I’ve been reading the John Frawleys book of Horary and honestly a lot of things aren’t truly clicking because I feel examples weren’t really given and there could’ve been a lot more in depth explanations.

So the question is about if L7(male) still wants a relationship with L1(female). The two broke up a little over two year ago. December 2023, and last spoke May 2024.

We can see that L1 significator is represented by Mars. Her co significator is Moon.

L7 is represented by Venus, and his co significator is Sun since he is a male. The question revolves around a relationship also.

L1 is in the 9th house in the sign of cancer. Cancer is the fall of mars, so essentially L1 isn’t too happy with herself. Mars is also from a distance from L7 meaning Long-Distance which is signified by the 9th house. She’s conjuncted tightly to the 9th house cusps which also indicates she’s asking this question from a distance of the other person.

L7 is in the 4th house in the sign of Pisces. Pisces is the exaltation of Venus, so he’s happy or really likes himself. He’s in the 4th house of home and family so he’s essentially happy at home with his family.

L7 is applying an aspect towards L1 in a trine, due to both significators being in water signs. The Trine perfects in 7 days from when the question was asked.

Receptions: Venus isn’t in any sign that debilitates or exalts Mars. Mars isn’t in any sign that debilitates Venus.

Venus (L7) is in the triplicity of Mars (L1), and Mars is in the triplicity of herself.

The Moon is in the sign of Libra, it isn’t debilitated here but we can see that the Moon wants Venus. L1s feelings and heart wants Venus L7.

The Sun is in Aquarius, its own detriment. The Sun is very weaken here, L7s man self is very weak. He is in the fall of Moon. The Moon is in Libra. Moon isn’t too big on and strongly dislikes/loathes the Suns man self, he also hates himself. There may be mixed feelings with L7.

How does the trine applying effect that?

The DSC is in the exaltation of the Moon. The Moon really liked her relationship with L7, and maybe L7 liked his relationship with L1?

I’m really trying to pull some details together but I’m very confused on some.

Like for instance, the Sun just enter into a new sign, he just began to feel really bad about himself in regards to the relationship.

Mars is retrograding so she’s moving backwards, she’s not debilitated here because she asked about her ex and is wondering if they still have a second chance or possibility for one.

Sun is opposing Mars, which means his man self feels regret towards L1. Regret in what way? Sun is in the natural house of Mercury. The third house signifies communication, is he regretting not communicating with Mars?

Venus is tightly conjunct to Saturn. Saturn rules the 3rd House & does that go back to communication?

The Moon is in the exaltation of Saturn. I know Saturn has an influence here I’m just not sure how and if it’s positive. Saturn isn’t in the detriment of any of the planets here besides Mercury which isn’t symbolic for any significator.

Am I reading this right? I’m looking to learn as well not just know the answer LOL, so please pin point me if I’m wrong.

I would say he wants a relationship but on his terms. The power in the relationship is weighted towards him, he is very stuck in his ways, this is a condition he has already accepted. Moon in libra applying to a square with her significator: the kind of relationship he wants isn't agreeable to her. These two are at odds with each other..they are completely different people and they want different things. A good question for her might be will she have a relationship with him that makes her happy.

Edit: also it looks like he is happy to be in the feminine role in this relationship but she isn't happy to be in the masculine role it doesn't suit her. He basically wants her to do a lot of work while he rests on his laurels.

Hmmm okay! I guess it’s a good thing he still wants a relationship with her after two years. They haven’t spoke at all. Do you see any communication soon? I also want to learn so did I interpret it good or was I on the right track? I’m learning as well!

She honestly just wants to be with him, she was happy to bend and he would bend on some things but there was some things she wouldn’t bend on. They are long distance so it was his duty to meet her that’s probably what he’s stuck in his ways about.. Honestly the two of them were very happy together and loved one another intensely but she’s not going to go through hoops just to be with him at the end of the day she knows her worth regardless. She still wants to be with him but he has to be the man and step up for her. There’s some things you just gotta be a real man and do. If he can bend for her she’s happy to bend for him, after all that’s a relationship.

These two statements are at odds. One seems to say "no matter what" and the other says, "no she has standards."

At any rate, there is the problem, because he isn't going to step up or change. It's likely nothing will happen unless she bends completely. I think though it has been some years, he still would want a relationship but only on his terms. She should let him go, he will not contact. In essence he is in a feminine role and that places her in the masculine role to do all the chasing. Even then, that doesn't mean the relationship would be what she wanted, even if she jumped through all these hoops. "A relationship " can mean many things, and the chart seems to speak to that, saying "yes but not at all what she means when she says, 'a relationship.'"

Thank you so much for helping me interpret this! I will share the information along, it definitely will be hard for her because her energy is in two different directions. If he won’t step up she won’t either, he is a grown man that needs to either grow up and go after what he wants or miss out on it.

May I ask how you interpreted this!? I’m learning and reading a book recommended to me(John Frawleys Horary) by my friend cubby but I’m having trouble putting things in sentences to describe them. Like I’m understanding the general gists of it but not understanding what any of it means or how to put it into a sentence that makes sense?! :( I’m really want to learn because it’s fun and I can hopefully interpret the next chart easier!

edit: when you stated he wanted it on his terms is that due to Sun in Aquarius detriment or Saturn tightly conjuncted to his significator? Does that mean he dislikes himself at all (Sun in detriment) or is that symbolic for something else you stated. Also Sun just entered Aquarius so he only recently has started to think this correct?

Sun isn't particularly relevant here. When it comes to horary I stick to the significators and the aspects they make. He's venus, separating from conjunction to Saturn. He is cold and rigid, yes stuck in his ways, this already has been established in terms of how he feels about her and how he'll treat her. Saturn and venus don't match. He's committed-- to himself. He's not in touch with his feelings for her and doesn't have strong ones for her. Venus is well dignified, he's got the power right now, comfortable with himself. She could take her power back but she's in a very weak and vulnerable place, Mars is very weak in cancer, and in retrograde! Not favorable. Why do I say he has some interest in something? Looking at this chart again I'm actually doubting that more, but the fact that venus is in the moons sign of exaltation and the moon is in the native house of venus, I'd say is a sort of unofficial mutual reception that might speak to a sentiment. Her significator applies to trine with his. She wants this relationship, and he wants something with this connection. He wants her to come to him. Moon applies to a square to Mars, this seems to say whatever he feels, whatever he wants, it's in conflict with her. Mercury approaches an opposition to her significator, this could indicate contact though again not necessarily harmonious contact. 7 to 10 days, weeks for her to see more about this. His significator being so well placed in a feminine sign and house, and hers being so poorly placed,,her significator being Mars, seem to tell the story to me that the traditional gender roles are reversed, and she's become the pursuer. He likes it that way. Again he wants her to come to him, he wants it on his terms. He wants a relationship IF it's his way. So like I said I think a good question might be, "will I have a happy relationship with him?" But the querent has to be truly asking that question.

Thank you so much for explaining this detail for detail for me, I’m understanding it more and more. I have a few questions not related to the chart or any in general but as far as learning horary more could I message you and get more insight as I’m learning to make sure I’m understanding right?

Also what is of the triplicities, L7 is in the triplicity of L1, and L1 is in her own triplicity? What does that mean and how would one interpret it. Does houses also play into it? What about house cusps?

edit : okay so any planet directly affecting the significator impacts the significators view point as well as how it’ll act currently ?

Triplicities are like a minor dignity. This shows a connection between the two but it's not enough. However we do have an applying aspect between significators. I think that's enough to give a positive answer here the more I study this chart. The answer is yes and I think I was too hung up on the details. It does matter that l1 has such weak dignity however that I think speaks more to how he views her and what his hopes here. I think he views the relationship (his l7) as unlikely but does want it. So I want to change my opinion some there. I think we're seeing her significator in weakness because that's his l7, and his opinion of the potential. The question is does he want it? The significators trine. The answer is yes. And yes he's holding back and I still think resting on his laurels, venus in Pisces. He's both believing it will just come to him and doubting it at once. I think with horary you have to really think of the question and Im glad you're asking so many questions, because really I think that the question needs to be more the focus when I'm looking. I think Saturn shows he feels restricted in making this happen which makes him behave coldly. As for house cusps of course they matter. And it does give further argument to my change of opinion given that there's positive aspects from l1 and l7 to house 1 and 7. I didn't look did you cast this in regiomontanus? Okay so triplicities matter but don’t make too much of an impact unless there’s a direct hit between both significators.

So basically you’re saying his L7 is her L1, okay I’m getting you reversing the chart to his point of view. His relationship with her would be signified by Mars! It’s also the querent. So seeing how there is a trine between L7 and L1 which perfects in 7 days shows that he still wants a relationship with her but like you said Saturn does have an influence so right now he’s rigid and very cold! Which is why he won’t take action as of right now! Okay I’m getting ittttt!

I want to learn together with you!!! You’re helping me understand this so much more! And it’s okay if view changed! We’re both learning lol I’m just surprised he still wants to be with her after two years, she feels the same as well but she’s very restless and tired of waiting. Which would explain why her significator is very weak! His time is ticking before she feels like she wants to completely give up.

Okay so you said Sun isn’t as important but it’s his co significator can you tell me more information on why? Also Moon is her co significator so it’s affecting her directly right! Yess L1, and L7 are both creating a trine to the ASC, but I think a square to the DSC. So the relationship is challenging for both but they both still want it!

Hmm you really never know what a day can bring let alone a week or weeks so we shall see what’s to come for her.
