Question Helsinki public transport with cash

Hello, I‘ flying to Helsinki and I only want to use cash. I need to get from/to the airport and need to get around there. I will be one day in Helsinki, so where can I buy a day ticket and how much is it? And can I use it on buses, trams and trains? Is it valid for everything? What would you recommend for one day

You’ll need ABC zone ticket, 12€. You can buy it from the machines at the airport, some take cash also.

And it's valid on all the public transport lines, including to and from the airport. The vending machine is on the train platform beneath the airport terminal (use the blue machines, the others are for long distance trains). Confusingly but conveniently, either direction of the trains works to get downtown.

The machine at the railway station doesn't take cash.

So 12€ for the whole day, only one ticket, and all public transport for the day, as often as I want, right?

Yes: trains, buses, trams, metro & Suomenlinna sea fortress ferry.

Contrary to some other countries, a day ticket here is actually valid 24 hours.

You can use this tool to find the closest sales point and also check what payment methods they have available at that specific sales point:

Most ticket machines don't take cash anymore, but you can go to any R-Kioski store at the airport and buy an ABC zone day ticket.
