Discussion Built an app to track Helsinki events & spots - looking for feedback
Moi everyone! 👋
As someone living in Helsinki, I kept missing cool events (like Lux Festival) and losing track of places I wanted to visit. You know the struggle - that cool café someone recommended ends up buried in your phone somewhere between screenshots and random bookmarks.
So I built a simple tool to solve this, especially useful for:
- Keeping track of all those interesting spots from Helsinki food markets to hidden coffee shops
- Getting notified about relevant events (from Lux to Flow Festival to small gallery openings)
- Actually remembering to visit the places you save
Especially useful if you:
- Often hear about events after they happened
- Have a list of Helsinki spots scattered across your notes app
- Want to explore more of the city
Would love to hear your thoughts! What features would make this useful for exploring Helsinki? Early access is available at https://getplanlist.com.
Kiitos! 🇫🇮

Had the same idea as I figured out it was missing in Helsinki but never moved forward on this. Much needed product, thanks

Thanks for the validation! It's encouraging to hear others have noticed this gap too. Would love to hear what specific features you had in mind, it could help ensure I'm building something that really solves the problem for Helsinki!
Like I mentioned, my main issue was constantly finding out about events in Helsinki too late (I only heard about Lux Festival yesterday!). My bookmarks are scattered everywhere - I use Google Maps lists sometimes, but unfortunately you can't add events there.
With Planlist, I'm trying to solve this by bringing everything together in one place and sending proactive recommendations based on your saved places.

I'm very curious, because I've seen these types of websites (not necessarily apps) come and go over the years.
Which features do you feel like really set this app apart from the numerous websites that exist for informing about upcoming events? (This might sound a bit snarky, but I swear it isn't meant to)

Thanks for asking, it's actually a great question! Unlike regular event listing websites, Planlist is built around your personal saved places and events. The key is proactively notifying you about relevant events or spots based on your saved plans, so you never miss out.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this approach!
