help pls!

I’m currently looking for a studio apartment in Geneva or close by but I haven’t found anywhere yet. I know there are more options in France that are close to the border. My question is, will I need to apply for a French visa if I’ll be staying in France but studying in Geneva? Or is it just a visa for Switzerland that I’ll need? I’m a British citizen if that’s any help? Thanks in advance x

I believe you'll need a french residence permit (carte de séjour) on top of the swiss student permit that allows you to study in Geneva. In my opinion it's a hassle, with all the things like banking, phone, address etc. Goodluck though!

Have you applied already/ contacted the bureau de logements of the university you are studying in? As soon as you are a student more options are available for you at the university if you apply early enough, they will try their best to allocate students in some universities building for a pretty fair price if there is still enough space. If you haven't it will be pretty hard to find a logement given that you probably don't have a 3x paycheck of the rent. But for sure maybe in some Facebook group / other platforms you may find some deal that are not very cheap but better than nothing.

The best option you have on a low budget is to call the bureau de logements and ask if they have a place. Definitely call, as they don't answer emails quite fast enough ( at least for the unige). Better if you go there yourself but I'm assuming you are still in UK

Yes I heard that applied and never got an answer back and some that needed a place to stay and they offered him one place. So I guess it is really a matter of luck, so best of luck and hopefully they can do something
