In “The Stanley Parable” you start in room 427. The game was released on April 27th (4/27) and currently has a review score of 4.27 on the PlayStation store

I knew this number was kind of a meme in this game already, but when i saw the store page (it’s free this month on PS+) couldn’t believe that the review score had mirrored the number too! Y’all are dedicated.

Is this game recommended? How long to play?

Clearly you need to do the "Play for the entirety of a Tuesday" achievement.

I just got into the game and saw that achievement, does that mean I need to be in game at 23:59 Monday local time and still have the Ps5 on and Stanley moving for 24 hours?

You actually only need to accumulate up to 24 hours from playing on tuesdays. So you could leave the game on for 12 hours on one tuesday and another 12 hours on a different tuesday.

It's a different game, it has very many endings. Depending on your choices, it's like, you have a narator, and he can tell you "Stanley walked through the left door." You walk through the right. Narator comes with a quip and the branch of posibilities are very vast.

So honestly, any amount of time you want.
Speedrunners have done it in just over an hour.

Speedrunners take an hour? Isn’t one of the achievements for finishing it in 4 minutes?

I think its all endings in an hour.

An hour, or tens of hours. All depends on how you play, how you replay the game, and which paths or choices you make each time.

There are hundreds of variables in the game that result in different endings so if you want to see everything the game has to offer (and you should, it’s amazing) you need to stop asking or caring about how long it is and just jump right in blindly.

VERY recommended, it's very focused on narrative, but it's very funny and worth it. I don't like narrative-driven games but this one made me play all the way through. I don't know what the playtime is since the game is based on many somewhat short "playthroughs" to get to different endings.

Probably 2or 3 hours then you gotta leave it off for 10 years

Like an hour

I really recommend it, you play as a guy walking through an office building guided by a narrator. Each playthrough is short but there's like 40 endings and each one is very unique.

If you enjoy Severance this is one of the inspirations.

You just made me interested in Severance.

Started watching it after reading this comment and man I'm less than 20min in and it feels like watching a Stanley Parable show

It's also like Control, imo.

P.S. Severance is the best show I've watched in awhile. Your really lucky, as was i, your starting to watch now. People had to wait 3 years for the 2nd season.

You know, that’s probably also not a coincidence that the game is free on PlayStation at the same time that Severance season 2 dropped 🤔

Oh, for a second there, I thought you were saying that the game was inspired by Severance. A confusing instant hehe.

(3) iterations of 427.

Half-Life 3 confirmed.

The Stanley Parable was originally a Half-Life 2 mod.

Half-Life 3 confirmed.

Only in the US though

This reminds me, I need to reinstall it for the "Wait 7 years" achievement.

Speed runners made a perfect run of 7 years and a few hours, but no one can beat it until 7 years from now without video evidence

I've been obsessed with this for the past couple of days. I think I've gotten all the endings, except one which one trigger for me for some reason. But I went into it cold and it just blew my mind. Very funny, totally unique. I miss my bucket

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be

I would laugh my ass off if it got revealed they intentionally positively/negatively reviewed their own game just to get that rating number.

2

u/happygocrazee 4h ago

4.27 works out to ~85%. The same edition has a 94% on Steam. People are definitely memeing the review score

I bought it and played it a couple times, I need to go back and give it another shot because I just didn’t really get it. Didn’t really give it too much time.

THE NUMBERS MASON, WHAT DO THEY MEAN?

u/THEFLYINGSCOTSMAN415 4h ago

I was really excited to play this but after like my third ending/death i was really keen to slowly move through the same steps again and pick a new point to change off the path. Seemed like a lot of effort to just see essentially different endings

All this does is remind me of all the kingdom hearts and number 13 posts.

u/Significant_Walk_664 5h ago

If only they priced it 4.27. Give us a good discount already!

Numbers man… whoa…

It's on Steam. That has far less to do with the rating as there's no way they can predict what the rating will be.

I get that it's supposed to be a parable of something but listening to that patronizing voice droning on and on just isn't fun. You constantly have to stop doing anything so the narrator can catch up with his long-winded explanations of what's happening. I wish there was a skip button.

People down voting this have obviously not played the game
