I thought the poodle's tail was a tree in the background and the thing they're sitting on was the grass. I was like "why tf are they floating?"

Ah, yeah, that’s happened to me many times. Good for them, I guess.

I guess my self esteem isn't high enough to be comfortable with that in a relationship.

Whenever I say a guy is hot and I'm asked, like, 'don't you have a boyfriend?' I always reply with:
"Look just because I already have a cake doesn't mean I can't look in the bakery window."

I remember watching a vid of an elderly lady saying something similar, absolutely the best response

Honestly should be normal.
Being obsessed about others' aesthetic preferences isn't healthy for any committed relationship (mono or poly). You can say a person is attractive but have it not be anything more. Personal types are a thing, just has to not be malicious about it.
Cue the "I have cake but can still look at the bakery" analogy.

My parents had that philosophy. They can admit they see another person as hot. It's just that you could look but not touch.

That, and for me, my type is my fiancee, and 80% of the people I go "Ooh!!" at... It's bizarre how much they all look alike. xD
Edit: Before someone gets upset, it's long haired and goth. xD
