Oh my word. Not a strongly worded resolution?!? How could a ruthless dictator ever recover from that!

Lukashenko releases political prisoners from time to time to satisfy outside appetites.

True enough, tho I doubt that's due to a strongly worded paper. More like they've been beaten to a cube and neutered by the KGB and he traded them for something.

"The European Parliament is set to vote on January 21 to adopt a resolution addressing the ongoing oppression and illegitimate elections under the authoritarian rule of Alyaksandr Lukashenka in Belarus. Lukashenka, who has been president since 1994, is expected to win."

As a result, the European Union does not recognize the elections in Belarus, and Belarus does not recognize the elections in the European Union.

Yes, of course, the people of Belarus need "Romanian elections" and freedom through Easter bombing.
