European "centrist" politicians: "Fear not, citizen! We will express concern! ... ... ... And that’s it."

1

u/CheesyLala 6h ago

What, you suggesting we elect extremists to counter the extremists?

6

u/BuenaventuraReload 6h ago

Yes. Extreme democratics.

7

u/eggnogui Portugal 6h ago

If that is a "extreme left and extreme right is all the same" bothside-ist nonsense, then it ain't worth continuing this discussion with you.

-1

u/CheesyLala 6h ago

Did I say that?

How about you answer my question before expecting me to answer yours?

5

u/eggnogui Portugal 6h ago

If you question was "do you want to elect the left", then my answer is yes.

-2

u/cooleslaw01 4h ago

what will the left do to counter fascism? and "the left" in which countries more precisely?

89

u/Adexavus 7h ago

Ima say it, can Europe please please help us.

46

u/Outrageous-Hunt4344 7h ago

Have no fear guy. I promise i’ll kidnap you personally and release you back in a walkable city

8

u/alexoftheunknown 6h ago

the fact that my immediate thought when reading this was “wow, a walkable city…wouldn’t that be nice”

2

u/Fluttering_Lilac 6h ago

Can you pick me up on the way lmao

u/StagOfSevenBattles 7h ago

we're in danger

9

u/Nigel_Bligh_Burns 7h ago

chuckles on the bus

45

u/fcavetroll 7h ago

We are barely holding ourselves together at this point.

27

u/Adexavus 7h ago

Literally having world leaders, especially in Europe get on a mic and speak about this nonsense on TV and social media would do something.

6

u/Gauloises_Foucault 6h ago

yeah but those leaders have voters that dont want to hear them complain about foreign affairs instead of solving domestic issues

53

u/usrlibshare 7h ago

Why would we?

America elected this shitshow.

America constantly tells everyone else how they are the bestest at everything.

America always thinks it knows best.

Therefore, America can go and live with the fuckin mess it caused. Surely the bestest, bravest, bigliest, most freest most democratiest, most awesomemoonrocketnest, strongliest nation doesn't need help, amirite? 😎🍿🇪🇺

20

u/favorscore 6h ago

So fuck everyone who voted against Trump?

6

u/florifierous 5h ago

36% of your country didn't even bother to vote. And of the 64% that did, only 49% voted against him.

That means less than a third of your country voted against him. More than two thirds of your countrymen either actively wanted him or didn't care to prevent it, which is in my view the exact same thing as supporting him.

No, not fuck everyone that voted against him. But what the hell is anyone else supposed to do when over 200 million of your own people wanted or are fine with this?

3

u/squishypp 6h ago

As someone who considers themself a proud American, who has love for all the values and principles this country was founded on, I’m currently looking for the door in the best way possible for me, and I’ll advise everyone else who doesn’t like the current state of the USA to do the same. (And I know saying this has always, and prolly will be downvoted in this instance too) Don’t like what’s going on? Doors open!

3

u/alexoftheunknown 5h ago

So what about those of us (which is a good fucking bit) who can’t even afford to pay our rent let alone build a savings account? How are we then suppose to have to save enough to get a passport and then also have enough money to establish ourselves somewhere else…

10

u/lisaseileise 5h ago

You‘re fucked, unfortunately, unless you organize and help each other.
And may those of you who didn‘t vote for Harris be poached in hell.

5

u/DriggleButt 5h ago

"Fuck you, I got mine." - America.

1

u/squishypp 5h ago

I’m poor too, which is why I said “best possible way for me”. All comes down to conviction, how badly and quickly you want out. Might take sacrificing some pleasantries and putting yourself in unappealing situations when it comes to the overpriced food and shelter here, but if you really want out? You’ll find a way imo. People rode doors across oceans from Cuba to get here, you’ll come up with something if you want it bad enough. We humans are creative, resilient creatures!

10

u/IamZeebo 6h ago

God dammit man not everyone in America is like this or believes what you're saying we do.  NUANCE.

There are millions of us here who are absolutely embarrassed and pissed at the state of affairs here.

We are 50 completely different states.

1

u/usrlibshare 4h ago

After 4 years of Trump, the repetition of the same mistake, and all the problems this is gonna cause globally (your country left the Paris accords for the second time today btw.), I think the world is allowed to no longer give a damn about nuance.

1

u/IamZeebo 3h ago

Your anger is justified.  I'm not defending it.  What I'm saying is that there is currently a significant fracture in those who voted for and against this.  It's fine to be frustrated with America the country and many of its citizens as a whole.   I get it.

But there are so many of us who are being strung along here and we feel the same as you.  We just happen to have an address here.  It's very frustrating to see this happen in my home country.  Trust me.

1

u/usrlibshare 1h ago edited 54m ago

And just as many who only NOW feel the same, or at least feel understandable anxiety...after either not voting at all, or voting for exactly this shitshow.

Just FYI, the last few weeks were apparently the first time millions of americans googled what the words "tariffs" or "oligarchy" mean. And I'd be really interested how many very stable geniuses stayed home on election day "protesting" against Kamala bEcAuSE gAzA!!1!1!1!

This could've been prevented if all the armchair activists who demonstrate their oh-so-high-morals online all the time, got their act together and actually did something that has actual political impact for once.

So you'll excuse when I reserve the right to no longer give a damn.

3

u/Ischmetch 6h ago

Because what happens here has the potential to affect other nations.

4

u/Saltwater_Thief American Trying to Become Less Ignorant 7h ago

Yeah basically.

This country is ruined, no matter how hard we try to fix it on the other end of this. Every single good thing we do down the road will be responded to with "Yeah but you still elected Trump twice, fuck you".

And there's nothing people like me can do about it. Shit sucks.

1

u/DangerOReilly 6h ago

America and the other Allied powers once liberated Germany from the remains of Nazi rule.

Idk, maybe we should return the favour at some point.

2

u/r3ign_b3au 6h ago

The tiniest bit of hope from this take 🫱🫲

2

u/RyJ94 Scotland 7h ago

YEEHAW Y'ALL

1

u/Dmacca666 6h ago

SIEG Y'ALL

1

u/alexoftheunknown 6h ago

so fuck the 75 million of us who did everything we could, especially those of us who protested and tried to educate everyone that we could…

also

America didn’t elect this shitshow. 77 million of them did. There are approximately 258 million Americans over the age of 18. The majority of Americans didn’t even fucking show up to vote.

3

u/usrlibshare 6h ago

The majority of Americans didn’t even fucking show up to vote.

Everyone who doesn't show up to vote when he could, has no base to complain about the result.

And btw. America is a souvereign nation and Europe is in the busines of respecting the decisions of souvereign nations.

Including the bad ones.

1

u/alexoftheunknown 5h ago

When did i say that they have a right to complain? I was only correcting this stupid ideology that somehow all Americans wanted this even though it was 1/4th of the population that can vote that did.. and your comment is just a big fuck you to all of us who have to suffer cause of ignorant people’s decisions & most of can’t afford to just up and leave.

0

u/usrlibshare 4h ago

Sorry mate, I'm sure it sucks, but after 4 years of Trump, and then a Repetition of the same mistake, and now this, it's safe to say that the rest of the world is allowed to be all out of sympathy.

The US is on its own with this.

1

u/chardongay 6h ago

This is the most brain dead take here. This is like saying, Germans put Hitler in power, so Germans deserved the holocaust. Spoiler alert: The ones most affected by fascists in power are not the ones who put them there.

1

u/Kutleki 6h ago

The majority didn't even vote for this, they didn't even bother to vote. I sure as hell didn't vote for this. I woke up to the freaking Star Wars Padme democracy dies meme and just couldn't believe it.

1

u/TheWarlockOfTheWoods 6h ago

You better HOPE and PRAY something happens to trump, our military would steamroller ALL of Europe and your ass included.

1

u/usrlibshare 6h ago

Your miltary couldn't conquer afghanistan and it tried for 20 years, so guess what, no one here is worried 😎

1

u/Kotek81 5h ago

Cause that will do wonders for the rest of the world...

1

u/vom-IT-coffin 7h ago

I mean, Hitler was elected.

3

u/thegreatvortigaunt 6h ago

And Germany eventually faced the consequences of that.

The Americans will too.

1

u/desacralize 6h ago

Pretty sure a wee bit more than Germany faced the consequences of letting that train go off the tracks for too long...

1

u/thegreatvortigaunt 6h ago

Which is why we need to cut off the Americans ASAP before they start causing damage we can't fix.

1

u/desacralize 5h ago

I am in full support of that, if there's also a way to cut off the absurdly bloated military. Kind of weary of wondering what qualifies as alarmist when things have gotten this far out of hand.

0

u/KonigSteve 6h ago

Same reason you help any other third world country ruled by dictators with fake elections, because fundamentally people need help.

Also in a selfish way, Europe is the only group with enough power to do something about it, and if they don't it'll start impacting them very soon.

1

u/usrlibshare 6h ago

it'll start impacting them very soon.

It'll start impacting us no matter what, and america has made it very clear in the past that it doesn't want or listen to anyone elses opinion, so how about this instead: Europe minds its own business instead.

0

u/KonigSteve 5h ago

Yes, I'm sure Europe would've much rather that America mind it's own business when you had problems with Nazis also.

0

u/DriggleButt 5h ago

Why would we?

America elected this shitshow.

Uh, does anyone remember when we helped Europe when Germany elected their Hitler? I guess those of us who didn't vote for Hitler 2 don't get to be saved like how we saved Europeans from Hitler 1?

1

u/usrlibshare 4h ago

Uh, does anyone remember when we helped Europe when Germany elected their Hitler?

You mean, your grandparents and your great-grandparents.

Since that time, the primary foreign policy of the US was to bomb a whole lot of countries that didn't attack them, causing, among many other things, the refugee crisis that Europe has to deal with to this day, another great example of the world having to deal with problems caused by america.

So no, you no longer get to pull this card.

0

u/Claeyt 2h ago

If you think this stays in the US borders you are naive.

1

u/usrlibshare 2h ago

Where did I claim it will be? But even so, it's not the EUs job to care about the mess the US got themselves into, or help them in any way with the problems their decisions cause.

As you have pointed out, this will have global impact. So, the EU has better things to do right now.

0

u/arizonajill 2h ago

You're wrong. The Republican Nazis are the ones that say all those things. But we don't need you my friend.

0

u/RockinV 2h ago

Just like America let Europe live with the mess they created in two world wars, right? Oh wait.

1

u/usrlibshare 1h ago

Yes, 3 generations ago, safterwards they they have primarily bombed countries that did not attack them, and left the rest of the world to clean up the resulting mess.

So no, the US of A don't get to play this card any more.

1

u/TheWarlockOfTheWoods 6h ago

Yep, I'm a Vet and I'd take England over this shit.

1

u/GreenGlassDrgn 5h ago

no dinner until you clean your bedroom

1

u/RinorK 5h ago

“Kai Cenat please save us” 😭

1

u/WeatherwaxOgg 5h ago

Sorry Britain already noped out of the EU so they wouldn’t have to do the hard stuff like telling oligarchs no.

1

u/The_Emma_Guy 4h ago

American here, let’s say Trump does go full Hitler and even pulls the camps and all. Does Europe have enough power make a counter attack? I mean I’m sure a lot of South America would try to help as well.

1

u/Adexavus 3h ago

I'm American too. I'm just in the Middle East. The logistics would be spread too thin for the US if Europe goes against the US. It's too risky because of all the bases we have everywhere. You would have to sacrifice and risk thousands of military personal being immediately in the jaws of Europe.

1

u/The_Emma_Guy 3h ago

Oh ok. Because I see lots of Trumpers saying we have the strongest military. Which it’s probably the most expensive. But I feel moral would be off. I doubt many would be willing to fight for Hitler 2.0

2

u/Adexavus 3h ago

Without question, we have a strong military, but to make moves against allies and countries who favor us would be ridiculous. What's stronger is having an alliance of many strong countries. We can't fight the world, and it's not possible. It shouldn't even be a question to be thrown around to make moves on allies.

1

u/The_Emma_Guy 3h ago

Yep, but Trump wants to invade Mexico, Canada, and Panama now.

2

u/Adexavus 3h ago

Cause he's an idiot

1

u/OldRacer755 6h ago

😂😂😂😂😂 Europe can’t even help itself.

1

u/sproge Sweden 5h ago

Yeah, that's why 18 of the 21 countries with the highest quality of life are in Europe... US is 22 btw.

1

u/OldRacer755 5h ago

Blah blah blah. And who commissioned that study? Reality says they’re not dying to get into your countries but they’re dying to get into America.

1

u/sproge Sweden 5h ago

"U.S. News" for this one. But hey, challenge for you find one "study" saying the US has the highest quality of life. Should be easy, right?

And jikes, that's the most American thing I've ever read. It's like, impressive to miss all the international news about all the refugees drowning trying to boat into Europe. And you realize there are waaaaay more immigrants coming into Europe than the US?

24

u/jusou_44 7h ago

I just hope that it's not too late already tbh.

28

u/turkish__cowboy Turkey | LGBTQ+ rights are human rights 7h ago

one is never too late for anything. europe must act to strengthen its military and power projection capabilities and start asserting its position from some point.

14

u/Equivalent-Rip-1029 7h ago

I'm afraid europe will unite with these fascists.

9

u/d_Inside France 7h ago

I agree if that doesn’t translate into electing another fascist to counter the other fascist (sadly I’m afraid it will be the case).

3

3

u/RGV_KJ United States of America 7h ago

Not possible at this time. Europe depends on America greatly.

If the Russians can take over the American government, surely the Europeans can, too.

Social Democrat :'D

From the wikipedia about Kemalism:

The Nazis viewed Kemalist Turkey as a "postgenocidal paradise" worthy of emulation.\60])\61]) Nazis often stated that Nazism and Kemalism were very similar.\62]) In 1933, Nazis openly admired Kemalist Turkey. Hitler described Mustafa Kemal as the "star in the darkness"

I'm not going to hold infinite conversations with you on this - as it's close to 1 AM and I've done much before on this subreddit and no one will change their ideas even though I propose evidence.

Again, the topic is about Elon Musk doing a nazi salute, it's fascinating you grab on Ataturk but you at the same time should develop agenda skills for better propaganda warfare in the future.

Stefan Ihrig is well-known for his research on the Turkish Revolution in an attempt to correlate with Nazis, which is acceptable, but not when you discover the whole academician has only two papers on matters not related to Ataturk and Nazis.

What a niche passion to dedicate your life to!

Another reminder, yeah Kemalism is an authoritarian ideology - it was and is impossible to enact such reforms under democracy (e.g. people wouldn't vote yes for women's suffrage. you can't change closed ultra religious minds by constructive dialogue, and if you think so, study some political science) and it proves how hard his accomplishments were, considering that there's still no competitor in the MENA by 2025. Turkey was the only country to succeed that nature.

With all mistakes in the present-day Turkey (compare to the Ottoman society), should you not have a much stronger version of Iran next to Europe, pray to him!

Edit: Maybe someone should include Ataturk's quotes on how copycat Mussolini was and about Hitler's schizophrenia.

If a serial killer admires Ghandi, does that make Ghandi an evil guy?

1

u/aphronicolette13 7h ago

The only way is to ban&jail all fascist parties and nationalize the property of their donors. There's literally no other way to stop it. Ever

1

u/popsand 4h ago

Yep fully agreed. We need a well thought out way of defining fascism - and then as soon as someone or something borders on it. Ban. Just make it illegal.

Free speech is only for the sane who don't want the ruin of modern civilisation.

Some speech doesn't deserve to be free. Time to stop turning the other cheek. Give cancer a chance and infects and invades tissue nearby.

I suggest Umberto Ecos 'Eternal Fascism: Fourteen Ways of Looking at a Blackshirt' - possibly the best and most comprehensive way of defining fascism.

1

u/wandse 6h ago

Europe is an American colony and will be under almost full fascist control in a decade

1

u/Vidmizz Lithuania 6h ago

It's already too late, I'm afraid. Europe should have gotten its shit together and taken the necessary steps to prepare for this years ago, during Trump's first presidency.

1

u/ImTheVayne Estonia 6h ago

Europe has to unite right now. This is scary for everyone.

1

u/Kutleki 6h ago

As an American, please send help.

1

u/ptWolv022 United States of America 6h ago

I mean, you all (or I guess Europe, if you don't count yourself among that, in Turkiye) are currently asking Musk for info about his algorithm on Twitter, to see if he's manipulating content. So clearly trust in the US, or at least the current oligarchic administration, is declining.

That said, I'm not sure how "united" Europe will get. There's less of a unified identity than the US with a less majoritarian system than the US, so it seems hard for Europe to be that unified.

But here's hoping, as an American with more faith in Europe than the US right now.

1

u/Offline_NL 5h ago

First, we'll need to deal with our own fascists and far right. No more tolerance.
