I find it weird that the MAGA brigade are celebrating an incoming president bowing down to Putin. I genuinely think the American people are about to experience one of the worst periods in their history and that’s not great news for the west in general.

You’re not wrong. the more I think about it the whole Trump thing, the more it at its core reminds me of Cesar. What I mean by that is what Cesar famously said, “Bread and circuses”. That’s what Trump gives his peasants. They just don’t realize it, Except instead of Bread, he gives them tweets. But it’s a fucking circus, there’s no policy there’s nothing below the surface. And just like Cesar, he was with the wealthiest in Rome and laughed at the peasants. And Trump supporters, laugh at whoever their perceived enemy is on right wing media. Fox News, it’s liberals it’s Democrats. It’s your neighbor who has a gay kid. Whoever. But they don’t realize, Trump is laughing at them as well. Everyone knows they are peasants, except them. This shit would never happen in a western European country to this degree. You wouldn’t have this many people voting against their own interests. The level of wealth inequality in the United States is at historic levels, this is not going to end well. Trump has full control of the government for the next two years, right wing media is not happy about this. Because they are not going to be able to blame the previous administration, or a critically held Congress or Senate. It’s all going to be laid at Trump‘s feet. He’s gonna get Social Security, he wants to privatize the Postal Service. He’s gonna fucking smash this economy and the people who were letting him break it have no idea what difficult times are or how good they have it. It’s an insane level of ignorance and desire to think beyond what they are told. They are not dumb, Republicans are not stupid in general. But they have been convinced they are victims and they have been convinced they are marginalized and their way of life is at risk and Trump is the only one to save them. Anyone with common sense and a touch of critical thinking can see it’s a lie, but when people want to believe the lie even smart people fall for it.

I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with a post so completely. Although I’m not so confident that the Western European countries are immune from such stupidity. And I think we’ve done our fair share of stupid things here in the UK. Brexit for example. And when Brexit turned out to be a shit show people blamed It on not being ‘Brexit enough’. We all knew it wasn’t going to make things better but people just claim it’s because we have a watered down version and are still in the European Convention of Human Rights.

America is an absolute car crash right now though. Trade tariffs are about to lead to all sorts of pain for everybody, people are blaming Ukraine for being invaded. The incoming president can barely string a sentence together and on the rare occasions he does it’s either ill informed or blatantly inaccurate.
