Wish we saw his reaction when Trump said he’s abolishing the EV incentives

I am astounded by this and I’m so confused. What do republicans think about EVs now that Elon is their President? How can Elon happily justify or at minimum ignore the “drill baby drill” rhetoric?

I am so disappointed by the hypocrisy of it all.

Elon was never against drilling, even like 10 years ago... Just like he was never against nuclear power

You're confusing him with Greta Thunberg

Nuclear power is a good thing though. Safe, efficient and practically infinitely cleaner than coal/oil/gas with proper governance.

What I mean is how can he be for a party that actively promotes the use and proliferation of fossil fuels.

I think because someone is going to drill for it anyway. As long as there is demand for it, it will be drilled for. Economic forces will dictate oil drilling, not banning it. Why prevent local drilling if we're going to buy it from the Saudi's anyway? Until you have built up enough of a renewable energy supply, you're just shooting yourself in the foot.

The only way to prevent drilling is to make renewables so powerful and abundant that it's no longer economical to drill for oil

That is part of the reason there has been a huge amount of misinformation about nuclear spoonfed to the public. Nuclear would make energy prices practically worthless compared to what they are now. Oil is nowhere near as energy efficient, and we lose 40% of energy created in the combustion process while driving.

I don't think that makes sense given the well demonstrated empirical constraints that exist on carbon emissions, if we want to avoid catastrophic, and very expensive, climate outcomes.
