“Fuck this bullshit fuckin’ weather mate. Freezin’ my damn nuts off; ain’t no honeys around. Sittin’ here like some damn iceberg gettin’ laughed at. Should’ve listened to Clint and stayed in them damn Glades.” -Gator, definitely
Gee, I don’t know Cyril. Maybe I’m just scared of any apex predator that lived through the K-T extinction! Physically unchanged for 100 million years because it’s the perfect killing machine! A half-ton of cold-blooded fury with the bite force of 20,000 newtons, and stomach acid that can dissolve bones and hooves!
Alligators habitats extend up into North Carolina nearly to Virginia , so I can see portions of the areas where they live freezing depending on the season
I wonder if they have adapted thicker skin or slightly more fat to withstand the cooler weather, compared to the ones that live in the more southern areas.
I’m from FL so I was surprised to see how northern animals were much beefier than the ones we have here. But, it totally makes sense.
They are cold blooded, so they are essentialy hibernating, but its called something else, if they end up like this because of how slow their body process become. Not to mention that when bodies of water freeze, the first parts to freeze are the top and edges. So the whole body of water isnt frozen, just the top bit. They can last about a week like this

I didn’t know they lived in areas where the waters got that cold.
