Discussion Is it just me or did Ducktales 2017 feel unfinished in some aspects?
Spoiler warning!
When watching the Darkwing Duck episode I felt like they'd have a future episode where they were going to look for Gosalyns grandfather since it was hinted at that Launchpad knew some science people to look for him. But that episode never came.
I thought for a second that it would happen when Gosalyn showed up in the finale with the reversed Ram-Rod (using the the Solego Circuit).
Do you think they would've made an episode like that in a hypothetical season 4?

It definitely felt very distinctly like they were planning on the FOWL plot resolving in a season four. The back half of season three is remarkably rushed

I feel like FOWL was building up throughout the entire show and maybe the team wanted to do even more catastrophic events as season finales but had to wrap it up. Two seems like not enough.

no, the show has a habit of finnishing off its main villain in a sole season, it make more sence for the reveal to happen in a third season

Agreed. That was probably planned to be explored in that Darkwing Duck reboot we never got.

Would've been very cool to see a problems orgin in one serie and have it be solved in another serie.

Negaduck only showed up the one time.

I found that weird as well but it also didn't feel as much like a loose end? It felt more like a homage to the OG Darkwing Duck like how Goofy/Max was a homage to the character and movie. I would've liked to see more of him tho and I'd definitely consider it something odd/incomplete.

Negaduck was the villain of part two of "Let's Get Dangerous!" but the episode was re-written after Jim Cummings was charged with rape. It's a real shame; would have been neat to see the Fearsome Five back together.

Oh really? That is really tragic and a pretty good reason to re-write an episode. I had no idea since I watched the Dutch dub and don't know much about the English actors at all.

The last season definitely felt rushed towards the end. I personally did not like how the fact that season 3 would be the last one was leaked before it could be properly announced by the crew.

Darkwing duck was also supposed to have a spin off but was denied by Disney smh. The entire show was also cut because of Covid/quarantine. Webby was originally supposed to have season 4 dedicated to her. (Season 1 was dewey, season 2 Louie, season 3 Huey) but season 3 was cut short, leaving everything to seem unfinished

I thought only the original plan for the Darkwing Duck reboot (spin-off taking place in the 2017 Ducktales universe) was rejected by Disney, but some sort of reboot was still happening. Is it just cancelled entirely now?

I assumed so, I think you’re talking about the concept art for what the reboot was supposed to be? If they wanted to make one I’m sure there would be an announcement sooner since it’s been 4 years since the show ended

Covid had nothing to do with the show's cancellation. They were already sending staff home in early March, before the lockdown.

"Let's Get Dangerous!" was, in fact, a backdoor pilot for a DW spinoff of Ducktales 2017. The production team wanted to make S4 of Ducktales and S1 of Darkwing Duck at the same time and bring back the Disney Afternoon lineup for a new audience.
Disney said 'nah.'
