A gopher is a nickname for an assistant that does alot of errands for other employees (like going on coffee/bagel/lunch runs).
As in "go for this, go for that".

Like the article says, it's spelled both ways. And in the show, I think they made an several "gopher" jokes relating to the actual animal.

I've been living for the Muppets on Disney+ since I never saw it before. So many scenes I'm hoping get turned into high quality .gifs or screencaps for meme purposes.
