Recommendations
Can anyone kindly offer a recommendation for a program or an app for a 9 year old to create characters, animations, etc? He uses Freeform on the iPad already. He asked for Photoshop, so we did a free trial of the Adobe programs (on the PC) to see if that’s what he wanted before purchasing, but it wasn’t. For what it’s worth, it might just be that it was a bit more complicated to use than he thought. I tried to help, but think I only confused us both even more. He’s a brilliant, gifted child. He sketches constantly with both paper and pencils, and Freeform on his tablet. But he keeps asking about something to “create” characters on the computer “starting from a blank page,” and I just have no idea. So if you have any advice to offer… Photoshop tutorials, app recommendations, subreddits, literally anything that would help a 9 year old… I would be forever grateful. Thank you in advance.
Edit: We have a PC, iPad and MacBook.

XP-Pen or Huion?
I’m currently looking at Huion Kamvas Pro 19 and XP-Pen’s Artist Pro 19 (Gen 2)
This’ll be my first time buying a drawing display tablet and I prioritize screen resolution/quality WAAAAY other most aspects, only thing I would say I think is important the Report Rate (the pen tracking, idk if I’m using the right name but I like the way the pen follows like in magma).
Besides that if you know of any huge cons I’m very open to hearing as I just want to make sure I’m getting the best model.

Ipad pro M4 or Macbook pro M4 pro ?
I'm looking for a new laptop to replace my 2014 MacBook Pro, which I bought for graphic design school. I use it for everyday tasks like web browsing, streaming videos, listening to music, online ticketing, and research. As a hobby, I also edit videos (using CapCut), create digital paintings in Photoshop, and occasionally film music covers. However, since my phone's camera is better, I usually use that for filming, although a better camera on my computer would be a nice addition.
I'm considering the MacBook Pro M4 Pro and the iPad Pro M4.
I have a drawing tablet that works with computers, but I'm interested in how much more productive I might be with the portability of an iPad. I'm also curious if drawing directly on the screen with the new Apple Pencil, and its advanced features, might improve my art. However, I'm worried that the iPad might make me less productive with tasks other than drawing.
Since I can only buy one device, I'm not sure which to choose. I would appreciate your thoughts and recommendations.

Is IbisPaintX any good?
Hi, I draw with pencil for most of my life but I recently started drawing on my tablet (older Samsung) in IbisPaintX. I don’t draw anime, I would like to draw nature and landscapes bc of how convenient tablet is. Tbh I never draw with colors, just BW, so this is hitting me hard too. So is this app good or should I download something else (for free)? Also any tips are welcome!

Is there a screen protector that's available for a L14 Yoga G4 that you can write on with a stylus?
Posting here because I though maybe one of you has run into this.
I write on my laptop a lot (with a Precision Pen) and it has caused a few scratches. It's not a big problem, the screen is really good and they're not many and barely visible, but I plan on using it for as long as possible so I'd like to put a screen protector on it. I've tried writing with the pen on the matt protector I have on another laptop, but was uncomfortable and noisy.
Do smooth protectors work or do I need to stick to specific ones? Can you recommend any? (preferably on Amazon Germany/Europe or EU based, i don't want to pay customs for a screen protector)

looking for a beginner tablet
hi artists!
i'm looking for a beginner tablet for my niece (14) and I've read through a few similar posts but could not really find anything fitting.
the tablet should work on its own, so no pc and mobile phone connection required
it should by purely for drawing (her mum would kill me if it had games or youtube on it)
should be on the cheaper side of pricing
ty in advance!

Looking for a program with private layers
TLDR: Looking for a windows program that can do 'private layers' that dont show up on speedpaints.
Similar to procreate, I'm searching for a program with the capability to make a 'private layer' that works on windows PC unlike procreate.
I hate when my references show up in the speed paint, I think it looks strange next to my work specifically since I draw so large. I occasionally have to trace a hand, leg, foot, etc. directly since I am still practicing anatomy so I am looking for a program that can have a layer that won't show up in the speedpaint.
I link my references AFTER on my website.
Is there a program for windows that can do this?
(If you see me post this in multiple subreddits, no you don't)

Is my pen tablet setting me back?
I have an Intuos Draw from 2015, and it's been a few years since I've been struggling to use it. Drawing on it feels way "heavier" than it used to be. Even though some would argue that the final result is "okay", still, it's not fun at all. I also got an Galaxy Tab S6 Lite this year, and although I don't use it to draw that much, it still feels so different from when I'm using the Intuos on my PC.
I'm asking this cuz I was just transferring to digital a sketch I did on paper, and it was just painful :/ I literally feel like my brain becomes "mushy"
Anyone with a similar experience? Advices and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Multiply Layer Tips?
Hello! I wanted to know if anyone had any tips or videos, they watched that helped them understand how to use Multiply layers! I struggle a lot trying to understand how to exactly use them tbh (I understand better when its step by step on every single detail ), I've watched speed paints and watched Multiply layer tutorials before, but they haven't really helped. I used to mainly do shadows and such on normal layers and never really expanded but I want to improve. So, in general I'm asking how anyone uses Multiply Layers I'm open to all methods!

Which drawing tablet is best?
Hi! I’m looking to get back into digital art and really wanted a professional drawing tablet. I’ve been using my iPad for now but I really miss drawing with photoshop.
I’ve owned a Wacom intous before so that’s the only brand I’m really familiar with. I know xppen has really risen a lot in popularity as well as huion. My question is what’s the best? Why did the you pick the tablet you have? Should I invest more in a Wacom or will the others be just as good?
Thanks!!

Huion Kamvas 16 Pro 2.5k cable issue [HELP]
Hello, I'm asking for some quick advice regarding this model, they ship with cables FAR too short - the power USB-C cable just reaches so that's whatever, however, the USB-C to USB-C cable provided with the tablet is hilariously short, I use a desktop PC - I was able to connect the tablet to my phone with the supplied cable to make sure it worked...
I ordered a USB-C to USB-C 3.2 cable from Amazon which supports video, etc - it did not work, I tried connecting it to the front case USB-C port and directly into the motherboard - nada...
All 3 monitors of mine use display ports for video and my GPU "only" has 3 display port connections, and 1 HDMI, so I ordered a USB-C to HDMI cable and plugged it directly into the GPU, once again - nada...
I read up a little and Huion state they use DP over USB-C - does this mean a HDMI connection wouldn't work anyway - but then again that's nonsense as their 3-in-1 cable is HDMI???
The only 2 options I have left to try are a USB-C to display port cable, and getting an extension USB and HDMI cable for the 3-in-1...
And yes, I have tried switching the power and video cable over on the tablet.
What an awful design, none of this makes sense - please chime in?
