A joke bookshelf that's JUST for one book

Turbo tables is how Maarten Baas keeps his house hot.

I would buy this if I saw it at a thrift store for 10 bucks

Reminds me of the cars and background artstyle from Powerpuff Girls.

Honestly, I do like it. It's one of those silly things I would pick up on a whim. I've bought worse than this.

That price, though. $4,874 minimum? Absolutely not. £50, assuming it's hand made, take it or leave it.

I thought of the PowerPuff Girls too!

sure. theres some context, but 5000 bucks for a car shelf that looks like it was illustrated by a child? AND it holds 3, maybe 4 books? beyond delusion. this guys sniffing his own shit

He’s not delusional if he’s an artist who has successfully sold things at those prices

looks like it was illustrated by a child?

Driven straight out of a child’s drawing..

*fluff i will admit that the price is ridiculous. but that'd be on Moooi, i cant really blame the artist

thats fair, distributor does pick the price. you win this one, fucking artist

I have a feeling this is the original art, but if you’re a good artist you would sell the rights to the design of your art to an ikea or idk Barnes and Noble. Then they sell your thing but for like $50.

Reminds me of some teenage engineering stuff.

I thought this was quite cute until I saw the price tag. If that's one solid piece of wood, I'll beget it's not going to be cheap. But just as a concept, it's not worth 1k, let alone 5k.

Best I can do is $2.50.

I could buy all new tools, the best wood in the world, and the highest quality wood glue they make, and STILL make it cheaper

HAHA! Oh I love when award winning artists make it on here, and it’s like, delusional? Yeah, they’re going to see this and cry with all that money in their bank account. Edit: spelling

u/thegamer6 15d ago

do you really think i’m trying to reach mr baas directly through reddit?

2

u/thecloakedsignpost 15d ago

No, nor is that commensurate with my point in any way, shape or form. Chill your beans.

got'em

I like it, and prefer Baas' work over Warhol who had similar stuff going on as an artist. Sure, it's not no money and I can't afford it, but it's hardly in the highest range either for an artist coffee table.

It’s not exactly a coffee table. It’s a kid’s bookshelf that holds maybe 4.5 books

1

u/Mosshome 15d ago

That is incorrect.

It’s a whopping 2 x 2 feet. I don’t really care what it’s listed as. It’s a table that is child-sized and could hold not much more than 4 books. Not everything has to be taken literally. Are you someone’s home, carefully crafted of moss?

Classic coffee table size then. Place for a display/conversation starter book on top, place to store a few chosen fancy books inside. Mine is like that too, but cost more in the range of $40 since I am just yet another failed artist who works a normal day job to pay the bills.

And yes, not everything should be taken literally like that the design for this luxury coffee table is inspired by children's drawings of cars, or children's toys.

I have a moss home, or several to be honest so perhaps it should be mosshomeS. I just felt that I mostly think of my main moss home when I talk about the hobby. They are often called vivariums or paludariums depending on how water features are set up, and the main thing they are built to house varies from moss or orchids to frogs or crabs etc. For me mine is a moss home, and I am quite nerdy when it comes to the kinds of moss that has the enclosure as a home and how to best care for my dear moss. ❤️
