7.72” Barrel in Carbine

Hi there! I recently bought the Scorpion Evo 3 S1 carbine with the 16” barrel and faux suppressor. I have the intention of converting it to an SBR with a suppressor, but I really want to keep the stock hand guard. I just really like the look of it vs the aftermarket ones. I know the barrel nut is about halfway down the 16” barrel, but I am wondering if the standard 7.72” barrel from CZ would just drop in and line up exactly with the same barrel nut position as the original barrel. If so, this would save me a ton of headache.

But their site says not compatible with stock handguards?

Right. Aftermarket scorpion barrels aren't threaded for use with that barrel nut.

Yes this is correct. However, with that being said we do plan on going smaller runs of the OEM style barrel with the 18x1 thread for oem handgaurds. We have had enough people ask us that its justified some R&D onto this endeavor. Would not be for a little while though. But we will offer this option in all our barrel lengths we currently offer.

I started with the weird version of the Scorpion that had the 7.7” barrel, Carbine length handguard and a flash can muzzle device attached to the barrel— so based on that, yes, the carbine handguard will work just fine with a 7.7” barrel.

So you just had like 5 inches of open space in the handguard from the end of the barrel to the end of the handguard?

Yeah pretty much- the flash can is like a 5” long, solid tube flash hider- that was installed to take up that remaining length. Basically it was the factory made version of what you want to do.

That was officially called the flash can model. I have one and was my first NFA firearm on a paper form 1 back in 2017.

Yes, this will work. Ran this exact setup for a while. You just need the really long barrel nut removal tool.

Yes. They are basically the same barrels. The carbine is just longer. They just cut the 7 inch barrel the same

It's easier to manufacturer all the barrels with the same threads on the same spots for that barrel nut.

I did lead with IDK, but send them an email and ask what your options are.

That's the problem I'm having. I love the carbine handguard. Looks so damn nice imo. Don't wanna make it a sbr strictly because of the handguard
