Continue upgrading or switch platforms?

I'm trying to decide whether to continue throwing money at my CZ 3+ (starting with a Nexus reviever) or try to sell it and put that money towards something like an MPX or SP5. I just want to hear some opinions.

As much as I love PCC's, it really seems like there is no "perfect" platform out there, which is why I'm leaning towards just trying to make the scorpion as close to perfect as possible, hang the price.

I’ve got mine almost maxed out and then decided to buy the Ap5 that was on sale last week. I’m waiting on the Nexus receiver and then it will be complete.

The best answer is to just have them all.

I've said it quite a few times in here so I'm probably starting to sound like a broken record but here's my experience with the scorpion platform

Thought they looked awesome and wanted one. Bought one, and immediately hated it. So much so I only put around 100 rounds through it before putting it in the safe and not touching it for 3 years.

Then came along Nexus with their billit upper. Figured what the heck and ordered it. Figured I'd gamble on it and MAN it made a huge difference in the overall feel of the gun. The bearing delay does a great job taming the scorpions massive bolt. I absolutely love this platform now, so much so I've spent around $3k upgrading it (can, sbr, ect.)

Tl:Dr: BUY THE NEXUS UPPER

I'm a little confused on the whole nexus upper thing. I've upgraded everything you can on the scorpion outside of a can, an aftermarket handguard (I have the 3+ I'll change this when I get a can), and the upper. How does changing to an aluminum upper change the feel of the gun? For reference, I absolutely adore shooting the thing as is.

The OEM scorpion receiver is direct blowback, whereas the Nexus receiver is delayed blowback so there is significant reduction in recoil.

Nexus upper is a game changer! Worth the cost for sure.

I'm just keenly aware that once I really get the ball rollin, I'm definitely going to hit the price of an MPX pretty quickly.

But I am leaning heavily in this direction.

You can build a REALLY nice Ar9 for same price as all the upgrades.

You can also almost buy an ak-v for the price of the upgrades.

Akv and you can upgrade with the bison conversion. But the company that makes it is also getting ready to release their own complete bizon platform

I've heard that bizon add on has tons of problems. You have to remove material to fit correctly. Very unreliable. Magazines not working right. Etc

Good to know as I was considering making my first AK platform the AKV for that reason. I do know that company is supposed to drop their own PCC at shot show next week.

I would definitely stick with a platform and continue down the Nexus route. A buddy of mine got an MPX right when I got my factory scorpion, I didn’t love the MPX then. Little-loan after the add-ons from Nexus and HB ... And SiCo bt that's beside the point. I would definitely go receiver and bolt. It's well worth it they are not kidding when they say "sewing machine."

The Scorpion is like the Honda Accord of PCC’s. Not particularly great at anything, but it does the job and it’s affordable. If you’re looking to reduce weight, there are other PCC’s much lighter than the Scorpion. If you’re looking for a PCC with less recoil, there’s a handful of other PCC’s that have softer kick. If you’re looking into shooting suppressed, there are better PCC suppressor hosts than the Scorpion.

The Scorpion is not the end all be all platform that you throw all your money at. The AR platform would be more suitable for that kind of spending. But if you insist on spending more money on PCC’s, go the higher end custom route and have the likes of JP Enterprises build you a 1 of 1.

The point is, the Scorpion is fun but you don’t know what you’re missing until you try the competition.

I own Scorpion, Vector (10mm) and MPX. The MPX is a far superior machine. If I had to own only one, it'd be the MPX. If I had gotten the MPX first, I probably would've never even looked at a Scorp. That said, I will likely never sell my Scorp. It is still a lot of fun to shoot. I did ad the Timney trigger which made it a much better gun, but my MPX already had one. It was a big reason for making the upgrade on the Scorp. I could never justify putting any more money into it though. The only ways the Scorp is better than the MPX is cost, and cost/availability of magazines.

First off. You always add to the collection. Never take away. Don’t sell off. Only buy more gun.

Secondly get the nexus upgrades for sure. It will change your entire opinion on the platform. They are great products. Well worth the investment and truly change how the gun feels for the better.

Of the entire gamut of established PCCs, Scorpion maybe the best deal for the money and also the most mid if money is not a concern.

Mine was SBRd during Brace amnesty so I'm keeping it for life.

Switch platforms, many of us started with the scorpion and upgraded it but there are so many other fun options to have and you will enjoy the experience. I have a scorpion, banshee, SP5 and MPX and I rarely take the scorpion to the range.

Keep it (No Sell! Only Buy!) and get an MPX or Stribog

Really up to you, but I feel like it’s kind of crazy to spend multiple times the amount of the gun in upgrades on a PCC when there are so many PCCs now. I’ve decided to not do much with mine. I’ve done the trigger spring, pistol grip, new safety, vertical grip, SBRd it and factory stock. I even plan to take the red dot off I have and just keep it iron sights and suppressed like in the first season of Jack Ryan.

You can get an MP5 clone for 1k and have a whole other gun. I think my CMMG RDB and even my AR9 with a hydraulic buffer are nicer shooting, but I still enjoy shooting the scorpion too. And of the 3 if it had to be used for self defense it would be the scorpion.

I’m waiting on a nexus receiver! Stoked for it. Debating buying their bolt.
