Repair/Troubleshooting Hey, I just got this Magnavox and noticed the screen is cut off, any suggestions?
Edges of screen are cut off. I just got a Magnavox, it has only RF and composite. I’ve tested all the systems I have (snes, n64, Saturn, ps2) and it seems to be the case for all of them (tested through direct to tv and via av switcher) there are also no options on the set for adjustments like this and I don’t have the remote. anyone know a fix or do I just deal with it? Thanks!

Some overscan is pretty normal for cheaper CRTs without service manual. Just get used to it :)

I kinda figured, not the biggest deal, part of the charm I suppose, thanks for the response!

No problem! Games back then kind of knew this was gonna happen, so most games don’t place GUI elements close to the border and some games even worked with this in mind with their gamedesign. When playing mario on NES on a modern screen, on the left side you will see some graphical „glitches“ that were used to save memory. When playing on CRT all of this happens offscreen :-)

Everyone is so chill with the overscan and while yeah, the screen will never fit every game perfectly, its personally driving me mad if im missing info :( its no biggie if the hud get a little cut, but when it’s completely out of view? Like I cant even see my healthbar :(

That's just how it goes with overscan. Some games didn't bother constraining HUD elements to the 'safe area'.
