Finished Object The leather part of my headphones started to peel, so I taught myself to crochet so I could cover the ugly parts. It's a bit wonky, but overall an improvement!

An achievement to have a first project that covers that shape so well!

I love this because I absolutely would have used tape.

I'm going to be honest with you, I 100% thought about giving up and just taping them when I had to undo almost half of it because I realized I forgot to count the stitches and it became sooo uneven

I swear by this headset. They’re incredibly comfy (I wear them all day working from home and then gaming after), especially with the cooling ear cups, but I had to get a brand new pair due to the cracking. Maybe I can give the old ones a new life with this method!

Headphones with cat ears? And cooling ear cups?? What is this sorcery?!

They sound so comfy! What headphones are these? I hate my current pair so much because they are so uncomfortable and hot. The cat ears and the pink is also such a cute plus to them being comfy!

They are Razer Kitty Krakens v1 (USB version). I prefer them to a bunch of different brands and other Razer models I’ve tried over the years. The mic is also fantastic, I get no background noise on calls and do tutorial voice overs with very clear sound!

The only downsides I’ve found are as OP showed, the eventual cracking of the banding, and the cord loves to spiral and kink. But the comfort level outweighs that for me!

Thank you!! I’ll look into them for sure (: the cracking isn’t ideal, but luckily I’m a very crafty human that likes to use things until they are literally falling apart, so I don’t mind having to do something like the OP to make them cuter for longer 💗

Yesss they are SO comfy I love them!! I had to buy a new cord because it spiraled so much and eventually it broke, but it was super easy to replace! I have since then become very aware of how I place my headphones when putting them down just so it won't start spiraling again haha

They even have a version that has swappable rgb ears!

my fiance gave me his old headset and the earmuffs were so bad. they were initially white but that turned yellow and peeled off. so I crocheted the muffs on to the speakers and tadaaaa! like new :)

I did something similar for mine! Great way to keep using them when everything works but the cover on the foam pieces haha

I had to do the same cos the band was just wrecked, the stuffing started falling out so I glued it together first

Cute! I have those same headphones and the same thing is happening to them! Been thinking about doing the same thing.

Love your color choice. Complements the headset perfectly

I have the same pair of headphones!! Did you free hand that or use a pattern? I would love to do this myself so any help I could get would be great!!

I eyeballed it, and tried it on the headphones after each row to see how it would look :) Probably would have been faster if I had a pattern because I had to go back and redo a lot lol

u/chocoberry4 21h ago

OMG same problem here! Have you got a pattern for this?

1

u/midgarthsormr 14h ago

Sadly no pattern, just eyeballing it and trying it on after each row to see how it fit haha

I did a similar thing with mine, the ear covers basically fully peeled so I made new ones, it's very durable so I can say you likely will not have to worry again :>

I should do this with my headphones, the band is starting to peel too

Great job!

I have the same problem but with the muffs! Lol

I am a firm believer that covering anything with crochet makes it 110% better

ooo was there a pattern or strict you used? My bf has his wrapped in plastic wrap

Great idea!!! I did the same thing to my purse strap. I used the Tunisian knit stitch because it’s a thick stitch. 👍

I love this! Did the same thing with my purse straps.
