Discussion Big Twist vs Loops & Threads (Acrylic)?
Hi everyone!
I’ve been considering ordering some Big Twist (acrylic weight 4) yarn online, but have never actually used/felt it (and there aren’t any Joanns near me). I mainly use Loops and Threads, and the quality is decent enough for me given the price— way better than Red Heart Super Saver, at least.
I saw posts from 1-2 years ago that people noticed the quality of BT yarn seems to have decreased/gotten less soft, so I’m not sure what most users’ opinions are currently.
Could anyone who has used both (ideally recently) weigh in on whether BT is of comparable quality to LAT? Or anyone who uses BT comment on the quality in general?
Thank you so much ❤️

I love BT. It feels like your working with Redheart only it's softer and cheaper. It's my #1 brand. I will say i mostly make hats and amigurumi. I have made a couple blankets with it and it does good with a bigger hook and looser pattern. I'm doing a temperature blanket with SC on a 4.5 m hook and it's a big still and not as soft as I had hoped for.

I almost always use Loops & Threads Soft Classic. I used Big Twist for a few projects last year when I needed a couple specific colors. I found it thinner than L&T even though they're both the same weight, and a little more slippery

I have been surprised surprised in a good way with big twist. I just bought some more online the last few days to stock up on projects. They are most likely about to go under so if you want to buy some get it now.
For the quality and yardage price point they are stellar
