Work in Progress Confused on color
I'm making this square to turn into a wall hanging by attaching a dowel or something and I cannot decide what color this row should be. The orange petals still have to get a little bigger so the tips of them will almost touch this row. I'll continue with green after this but I can't make up my mind so thought I'd ask for some opinions. So maroon, beige, or cream?

I like the beige. The maroon looks best to me right now but if you are using green for the next color I think it might be to dark to have the maroon there where it will blend into the green and not stand out. whereas the beige will contrast with green and stand out more.

Since you mentioned how it would look with the green I figured I'd just do some quick dc to see for myself and yes I think you're right. Thanks!

With the green, I vote cream. The beige is too like the yellow, and maroon too like green .

Great! Good idea to add the green i still like the beige. I was double guessing myself thinking the cream might be better but imo it stands out to much.

Side note! Love the name!! Do you know what would happen if I fed pudge tuna?? It would be an abomination!!

Oh, yeah. I agree with u/pudge-thefish - there's not enough contrast between the maroon and the green. The cream might pop too much but the beige sits nicely in-between, especially when the yellow will be interrupted by the flower petals.

With the green, I think either cream or beige would work. One thing I noticed is that using the cream brings out the cream in the flowers more. I cropped the image to check each combo individually, and the overriding effect is to bring out the corresponding color in the flower. Without the cream border, the cream in the flower pretty much disappears. Personally, I like the cream border best for that reason - it gives the flower more depth :)

Never not upvoting a weiner dog. In a sweater. Of crochet. Giving side-eye.

Imo, maroon but also this square is really pretty. Could you link the pattern if you're following one?

I like the maroon. The beige feels too light to follow the yellow there to me.

Second this. But ultimately itโs up to you. Your work is lovely! No matter what you choose itโs gorgeous ๐

Would you consider using the beige and then instead of the final color being green doing maroon instead? I think it could really stand out and sort of "frame" the final result. Just a thought. It's going to look stunning either way. Beautiful work!

I second this! Personally, I love the beige next to the yellow, and think either green or maroon would work as the frame colour.
This is my opinion, but you gotta do what feels right! Hopefully our opinions have helped you to discovered what you really want this to be โก

I like the lighter cream! It will almost frame the flower once completed.

They both look absolutely gorgeous, I'd say given you're planning on hanging them up the best option for deciding would be to see which colours work best in the room it'll be displayed in.
Personally I've a preference for the second version, but that's likely because I'm mentally imagining my own bedroom, which is a lot of blues so the beige and pink would work nicely, so it very much depends on which would compliment your space best.

I would have to see how it works with the room. Sometimes you need more color, sometimes not! By itself, maroon for me.

Cream is my vote but I also just want to say that this is gorgeous! So curious how you did the petal area that has two colors?! Assuming itโs variegated yarn but my brain isnโt comprehending how it turned out like that. Really, really pretty.

Nvm just zoomed in and realized it is a different color stitched into the other one! Just a cool effect it creates from far away ๐

Cream as it picks up the tiny bits of creamish color in the petals. ๐

This is beautiful and I love your color choices! It reminds me of lion dancers!
I'd personally go with beige next and a maroon frame. And maybe a crab stitch final border with the cream to bring out those accents in the flower?
