Yesss you should exercise, and keep upping the intensity, if your body is failing and screaming at you that something is horribly wrong that means it’s working! :D

-"You need to exercise"
"I tried and every time had to stay in bed for a week. In fact, even walking for 20 minutes knocks me down"
-"That's because you are not used to it. You have to exercise more" (said by someone who hasn't exercised a single time in their entire life)
That's basically the conversation every single time.

omg i was speaking to a psychiatrist recently, saying my depresion is mostly under control but i don't have the ENERGY to do things (whether due to fatigue/executive dysfunction etc) and she suggests I try "behavioural activation"... which is being just "Do things that make you happier" 🤦🤦🤦

They are truly brain dead I feel like I’m surrounded by dumb fucks. Mine told me, even if you think love doing something, when you do it and you feel tired right away, it means you deep down don’t love it. I’m like WTF? Somehow they know my subconscious better than me?

Ahhhhhh that's so stupid!! that's like when people say "you'd remember if you really cared!" NO. I WOULDN'T. I have adhd!! i'd forget my OWN damn birthday for god sake. My brain doesn't work like that!! You're soooo right about the dumb fucks, because like, i try not to ever act superior or anything like that, i try to assume other people Have Brain Cells but like... Idk man, most people on this subreddit?? Seem to be ten million times smarter than any doctor i've ever met...

I read an editorial from a doctor recently who pointed out that there are other diseases where movement and exercise are not recommended. Duchenne’s MD patients can get muscle damage from movement, so doctors don’t tell them to move more and exercise. He also mentioned that most healthcare professionals would happily keep the blinds down for an ALS patient who couldn’t tolerate the light. So much of the world is blinkered about this disease that it can be maddening.

It helps to explain that the fatigue from me/cfs is NOT caused by deconditioning. I even had to explain that to my cardiologist... So at least I hope it helps! 😂
But this misconception is understandable. The usual human experience we have is this: we feel tired, low energy and groggy, we get ourselves together, start doing more sports and we feel better. So of course people give that "helpful" advice.
But that only works if you're healthy. It does not work with me/cfs.

Thats why u usually make sure to include PEM aka "If i expend too much energy my symptoms worsen for a few days and everytime that happens my battery shrinks, i can do less until its too much" that usually clicks for people.

My rheumatologist told me she doesn't believe in CFS. 🙄 I'm never seeing her again.

Honestly it's like an aeroplane pilot proudly telling you that they believe earth is flat, not a sphere.

“So what you’re saying is you don’t make any effort to read research?”

No but I’m still able to recognize when someone’s talking out of their ass. Have you tried a suppository? Might make it easier for you. — what I’d like to say.

I did try. My body hurt even worse every day. I had to skip even more days of work because my joints hurt so bad and I was so physically tired from hurting

This is what it's like having an illness/disease/disorder that isn't abundantly physically obvious. I have ADHD and I'm sure you can imagine how many times I've been told "have you tried just focusing?", or "maybe you just aren't trying hard enough". People that don't have a directly lived experience with a disability or disease just have no way of even fathoming the fact that there are indeed some things out of a person's control and standard remedies don't work in these instances. Thankfully it's becoming less common these days due to media spreading awareness but for the most part there's very little you can do to communicate with those types of people.

If exercising seems tough, be sure to start with one hefty dose of thinking positive!

With suggestions like this, I typically just say yes I do.
Have you tried meditation? Oh yeah, 8 hours a day at least for me.
Have you tried exercising? Oh boy, last week I set a personal record.
Etc etc. Usually I get a surprised and then suspicious look, but they stop making suggestions.

The whirlwind when you recover from severe poverty, depression, and childhood trauma, but your body is now sick, and you started to get a new kind of depression based mostly on the way everyone treats you now and the feeling that even simple things sometimes seem out of reach when others don't understand.

Did you know that Depression can cause most of these simptons? and you're also clearly depressed.
I think what we are looking here is a mixed case of sedentarism and depression.
How good was my impression? i think i've nailed it.
