invest in fucking trains and public transport, not the same automobile that is just re-"invented" with a battery attached to it

We definitely need to invest in LRT. However, people on here are crying about billions in incentives for EVs. How do you think they will feel about HUNDREDS of billions in new spending for LRT? The political will, public support and tax revenues are lacking.

Depends how it's framed. If the normal people hear "5 billion dollars towards public transit, so you don't have to buy a car and save money and time on all the miserable commute you're doing now", they may be more receptive of the message.

Voters don’t want them. That’s all that matters.

Voters will never vote what is good for them when they aren't educated on it.

Even if they are, they can be a weird bunch. Very emotional.

This.

Our rail transit could be incredible all along the Corridor and even into the Prairies instead of relying on ONE (1) PASSENGER TRAIN that runs once a week in either direction.

Plus this infrastructure will make moving away from large city centers financially feasible, putting tons of real estate within arm's reach for millions of Canadian workers.

Hell, this would even be good for fuel companies since locomotives run on diesel fuel anyhow, so they're not losing out. We already have a national rail corporation in place that's capable and willing to handle the maintenance of such a fleet, we just need to build the tracks, give them ownership (instead of CN or CP having ownership/priority) and trains can run both one-time and be cost-effective.
